Robert Lee Holland
DAWSON — Robert Lee Holland, 86, of Dawson, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, in the Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, following a long illness.
Born Aug. 23, 1925, at Dawson, he was the son of the late Pank S. and Alta M. Statts Holland.
Bob was a World War II US Naval veteran, a member of the Smoot Ruritans, the Smoot V.F.D., the Alderson Masonic Lodge and a member of the Meadow Grove Baptist Church.
He worked at Quillen Lumber Company and then for the WV Department of Highways.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Claude and Edward Holland and four sisters, Lurleen Holland, Dorothy Lanham, Pauline Cook and Ruth Bryant.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Fern Flanagan Holland; a son, Robert W. Holland (Robin) of Fayetteville; two daughters, Alta Pence (Tommy) of Ronceverte and Gail Bragg (Dwayne Brackenridge) of Rupert; a sister, Genevieve Henson of Ronceverte; seven grandsons and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Inc., with Pastor Les Mullens officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
The service will conclude with the release of the White Flights.
Friends may call one hour before the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
