I found this table at a junk store the other day for really cheap. The middle panel flips up and has a little vanity mirror in it.

I put it in my office and put some things on it. The frames on the wall have pieces of Grandma's fabric in them. =)

Yes, Trish! I thought about asking you to bring Mac and Cheese because everyone loves it.
Trish said DO NOT open that email that was sent from her email address, she did not send it. She now has to change her email password. She said it may be a virus.

Check out Reesy with glasses.

MP3 will be in attendance and we will bring stuff for the s'mores :P I think I will try to find the "little hugs" drinks for the kids and bring those. When I decide what I'm fixing for desert I'll let you know. Love to all
We will do plates, silverware, and nacho/cheese trays, no-bake cookies for our dessert, diet coke and diet mountain dew. This is not on the menu but I will bring Mac n cheese, kids just love that stuff and I never have left overs:). Will anyone have fresh stuff from the garden or should I say left overs by then? Home grown corn on the cob would be really good:)
Paul and I will bring chips, drinks, and a dessert! Can't wait to see everybody!
Hi Everyone, We will bring the Onions, cups and napkins if that is OK, plus the desert and our drinks. Hope to see everyone there.
Love and Prayers
Oops! I forgot and Trish reminded me - We will be doing the White Elephant Gift exchange on Labor Day also. I know some people are already getting their gifts rounded up!

The following Question and Answer is an excerpt from Mommy’s book, Reflections from a Mother’s Heart:

Q. What new tradition would you like to start in the family?

A. Ever'body git together once a year somewh're, somehow. Whether it's the same ever'year, it don't matter. Jus' so we git together before somebody has t' die before they do it. Even at a park or whatever. Jus' git together.

So to continue honoring her wishes, we are going to “git together” at the homeplace for our reunion on Sunday, September 4. This is the middle day of the three-day weekend, so people can travel on Saturday and Monday, if necessary. We planned the menu while we were in West Virginia going through the remainder of Mommy and Daddy's things in the house, and we made it simple. We are having hot dogs with all the trimmings (we can roast our own in the firepit), baked beans, hot dog chili, cole slaw, macaroni salad, potato chips, nacho chips and cheese, s’mores, desserts and drinks.

Following is a list of items we will need, along with names of people who have already volunteered to bring some of them. Please post on the blog whether or not you are coming and what you volunteer to bring so we will know how much food to prepare and to make sure all items are covered. I will keep a list of who is coming and who is bringing what.

Weiners (David - 2 pkg.; Tim 4 pkg.; Bobbie ?)
Buns (David - 2 pkg.; Tim 4 pkg.; Bobbie ?)
Hot dog chili (Rita)
Cole Slaw (Bobbie)
Nacho Chips and Cheese (Teresa)
Mac and Cheese (Trish)
Macaroni Salad (Ruth)
Onions (Daniel and Alice)
Mustard (David)
Ketchup (Bobbie)
Relish (Bobbie)
Baked Beans (Ruth)
S’mores fixings (Monica)
Potato Chips (Addy and Paul)
Napkins (Daniel and Alice)
Plates (Trish)
Silverware (Trish)
Cups (Daniel and Alice)
Bowls for Nachos and Cheese (Trish)
Strawberry Cakes - Mommy's recipe (Rita is bringing two)
No-bake cookies (Trish)
Peanutbutter bonbons (David)

We want everyone to bring a dessert and his/her drinks of choice.

If I have forgotten anything, please let me know, and I will add it.

We will eat at 1 p.m. Also, whatever you bring you MUST take the leftovers home with you because, unlike Mommy and Daddy who had people in and out all of the time, Steve and Teresa will just have the two of them and it will go to waste.
Good morning,
The box with the poems in it was on daddy's desk right behind his bible. I read them on one of the nights I was up there. That's where he kept all his important stuff:)
Danny was supposed to start radiation this week. Monday they just did CT scans And x-rays. Tuesday he was supposed to get the real stuff. He went in and they said the machine was broke down and to call Wednesday before coming. It's still broke down....so hopefully tomorrow! Danny is feeling pretty good. His left side is getting stronger everyday. He is still getting physical therapy 3x week and they have him up to 2 hours at a time. They tell him he is doing tremendous, even though he will never be able to lift his arm above his head.
I was doing physical therapy same days he was doing it for my muscles. I developed tennis elbow and had to cut out the arm exercises then as I was decreasing my prednisone my muscles and joints are hurting so bad that I can't tolerate any of the exercises.
I had blood work done yesterday and seems like it is steadily rising (not a good thing) so I am trying to get an appt at the Cleveland clinic while Danny is on radiation before he starts chemo. I am thinking she may want me to take another course of chemo, but we'll see.
Hope everyone is having a good summer and is staying cool!
Lots of love to all,
Trish

From Daddy

As you all know, we cleaned out the basement and there was so much to go through...Daddy saved everything.  I took all the boxed cards (Sympathy, Birthday, Get Well, etc....) so I could send them to people, mostly at church.  I went down this morning to look for something and I noticed one box that had something written on the back.  It said, "Take to Ruth's". When I opened it, I found these two poems on top.   I don't know when he fixed them up...maybe for the next year we all gathered. (He had made copies)  I am writing them because think it is a message to us!  That's just what I think.

MY CHILDREN
When I think I've nothing
Not a farthing, not a pence
Nor a castle, nor a manor
Nor a cottage with a fence
I gaze upon my children
With a look some parents know
And see that I am wealthy
For they keep my heart aglow
Tis they who give me riches
Beyond their farthest dream
More treasures and more pleasures
Than any ancient queen
Their smiles I cannot market
Their laughs won't bring a dime
But having them around me
Makes everything sublime
So when I'm feeling poorly
'Bout debts, or this and such
I think of childless rich men
They really don't have much

Safely Home
I am home in Heaven Dear Ones
All's so happy, all's so bright!
There's perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light

All the pain and grief are over
Every restless tossing passed
I am now at peace forever
Safely home in Heaven at last

Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! But Jesus' love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade

And He came himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread
And with Jesus' arm to lean on
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely
For I love you dearly still
Try to look beyond earth's shadows
Pray to trust our Father's will

There is work still waiting for you
So you must not idle stand
Do your work while life remaineth
You shall rest in Jesus' hand

When that work is all completed
He will gently call you home
Oh! The rapture of the meeting!
Oh! The joy to see you come!
