I love this idea Teresa!! I do agree that it may be to cool for the lil' ones if we do it in October. I like combining Labor Day/Fall Festival and having it for the whole Labor Day weekend. Would you be able to plant the pumpkins seeds early enough to where they would be ready for carving on Labor Day? I don't know if you have to plant them at a certain time or not. I can think on some games for the kids between now and then. Mark and I have to work Dec 31, that's our last day that week, so we won't be able to come. It sounds like it's going to be nice though. I like the soup idea :)
If we replace our family reunion on Labor Day with the Fall festival in October, some people may be prohibited from coming because they would not have time off from work. Also, it could be quite cold and bad that late in the year. I would vote to still have it Labor Day, but our schedules are such that we can do whatever the majority thinks.
I love the idea of everyone bringing a crockpot full of soup for New Year's. Do you plan to do another white elephant at Christmas or not?

Treadway Fall Festival
I was just wanting to run an idea past the Treadway clan. I was thinking that it would be nice to have our own Fall Festival right here at the home place. I was thinking that we could have a hay ride, corn hole, make apple butter, have lots of games for the lil' ones(would need some ideas from those with lil' ones) and even have games for those not so lil' ones. Rita even suggested that I throw out some pumpkin and gourd seeds in the orchard and the lil' ones and big ones could go and pick their own pumpkins and carve them.
I was thinking it would be nice to have it the third weekend in October, this would take the place of the Family Reunion that we have Labor Day weekend. If October is not work out for everyone we could still have it Labor Day weekend but it would be Family Reunion/Fall Festival. I would also like to have it for the entire weekend not just a few hours one day. People travel a long ways to see each other and then they only spend a few hours together, we don't get together that often, so for those that can we will just have a weekend long celebration. I think it would be a "hoot".
Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Oh, by the way we would still have the white elephant then also, everyone seems to enjoy it.
Before I let everyone go I also wanted to invite everyone that can to a Christmas/New Years Party Saturday, December 31 at 1:00. I would like to suggest that everyone bring their favorite soup (in a crock pot) or finger foods and your favorite drinks. Please let me know if this works out for everyone or if you plan on attending so I will know what to do.

Doesn't the following make you think of Mommy:
I am part of the Fellowship of the Unashamed.
The die has been cast. The decision has been made. I have stepped over the line. I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.
My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is in God’s hands. I am finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, the bare minimum, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, frivolous living, selfish giving, and dwarfed goals.
I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, applause, or popularity. I don’t have to be right, first, the best, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. I now live by faith. I lean on Christ’s presence. I love with patience, live by prayer, and labor with the power of God’s grace.
My face is set. My gait is fast, my goal is heaven. My road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions are few, my Guide is reliable, and my mission is clear.
I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded, or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.
I won’t give up, shut up, let up, or slow up until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and spoken up for the cause of Christ.
I am a disciple of Jesus. I must go till he comes, give until I drop, speak out until all know, and work until he stops me.
And when he returns for his own, he will have no difficulty recognizing me. My banner is clear: I am a part of the Fellowship of the Unashamed.

1. Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble; it is a "steering wheel" that directs us in the right path throughout life.
2. Do you know why a car's windshield is so large and the rear view mirror is so small? Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE. So, look ahead and move on.
3. Friendship is like a book. It takes a few seconds to burn, but it takes years to write.
4. All things in life are temporary. If going well, enjoy it--they will not last. If going wrong, don't worry--they can't last long either.
5. Old friends are like gold! New friends are like diamonds! If you get a diamond, don't forget the gold. Because to hold a diamond, you always need a base of gold.
6. Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, God smiles from above and says, "Relax, sweetheart, it's just a bend--not the end!"
7. When God solves your problems, you have faith in His abilities; when God doesn't solve your problems, He has faith in your abilities.
8. A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse than losing your eyesight?" He replied: "Yes, losing your vision."
9. When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them; and sometimes when you are safe and happy, remember than someone has prayed for you.
10. Worrying does not take away tomorrow's troubles; it takes away today's peace.

6 pictures for you
Just to explain a few pics we took while visiting Vonda...We surprised
Teresa with a little birthday party...cake and all. The one of Ruth
and Bobbie is where they are analyzing Mommy's flower blooms...they
are their mother's daughters...at least they look like her in her
gowns! And Vonda looks so pretty, don't you think? I took some of us
all but I must have had the camera on the wrong setting because I
didn't get not one of them! And we all looked so good after church!
