Monica, love the picture. Congratulations and glad to hear that all is going good. Keep us posted.

I received this info from Sandy about Brett this evening!

Hi ladies,

Thought I would give you the latest news on Brett. Well the chemo that he is taking had to be stopped. When he to get his chemo, they also draw blood. Well they didn't like something. So they sent him to get an early pet scan. Well they found cancer in where they took out his first lump. Well what is going to happen is he has to go to Duke University to get stronger treatments. He will do this for a few month's. Then when it gets small enough they will put him in the hospital drain his bone marrow. Then take his stemp cells, give him a massive dose of chemo. Then they will put it all back into him. This will take month. He will be in the hospital n a bubble. He will be out of work for a couple month's. When he comes home he will need somebody to take care of him. I'm going to do it for a couple of weeks. I will keep you posted on his progress.

love you both,
Sandy

Lories pond, if you look really close I think you can see the blue gill that the kids caught when they stopped at Ruths!

Mommy and her sisters with their daughters. This is in the front of Vondas house. I tried to get her lillies in the picture. They were bloomed out so pretty. The top part of the house is Lorie and Shawn and the bottom part, you can see the windows, is Vonda and Davids. You can look out the windows and see everything at eye level. The day the guy came to spray around the house for the mosquitos and stuff nearly scared me to death when I looked out the bedroom window from Vondas and got a face full (only the windows were down)

I would say he can handle himself, although I think you got the names mixed up. Tanner's dog should have been Bear!

Let me warn you, STAY away from the BIG dogs!

Happy Birthday, MOM!
I took Mommy and Daddy to the doctor. Mommy got a good report. Nothing new going on with her. Just one of those things. Daddy had lab work and his kidneys aren't functioning as well as they should. He has lost 10 pounds since June. So she changed his medication all around and if the pain in his side doesn't get better in a couple weeks he is to go back for a CAT scan of his abdomen.
Tanner has caught a total of 3 coons on the back porch in a box trap. One a night.
Brent helped skin the coon they caught today, They use the hide to help train the coon hounds. He was thrilled to death. I told him we were going to turn him into a regular davey crocket and he said "who's that"
They are at Lonnies tonight sleeping in the cabin. Was planning on fishing but I am not sure how much of that they did. When I called around 8 they were making smores.

By the way, Happy Birthday Rita!

Did Amy get the line from her mom, "I raised you and you survived , didn't I?" LOL
I dont know when the house was finished ,but we lived in it while they were building it, and doing the finishing work on it. Grandpa and Uncle Lin helped with the building, I think Uncle David was in the Navy at the time and I dont know where Uncle Lee was. but I remember were lived in it while they were digging the dirt out of the basement, to make it. and they had to clear the land before we could plant a garden, all the trees and brush.so I dont know how long that took.
I always thought Mommy and Daddy moved in 1948. Of course, that might have been when the house was finished and they actually moved in. I wonder how long it took them to build it? I am going to e-mail Daddy today and tell him to tell Rita or Trish.

Amy and Clara came down yesterday afternoon and stayed until dark. Belinda and Parker also came over and had dinner with us. Dan was out of town. Clara has grown so much in just a little over a week. Unbelievable! She is 12 pounds now. Parker, who is three weeks younger, is 12 and 1/2. Of course, he is a boy! They are both cooing and smiling and, of course, spitting up everywhere.

Amy is leaving Clara with us from Friday sometime in the day until Sunday afternoon. She brought us a DVD on CPR that she said we all had to watch. I have absolutely NO nursing instincts in me, so my CPR will probably have to be: "Lord, help me, Jesus!"
Yes, Congratulations Vonda! I'm so proud of you!
Speaking of the canning! How many jars would you venture to say Mom has canned over the years? They moved to the homeplace in '44 or '45. She probably started canning then. Or was it a few years before the trees were cut and stumps pulled to have a garden plot? Someone do the math and get back to us!

Not sure if everyone knows about Mommys episode on Saturday, but she seemed to have another mini-stroke. She recovered pretty quick, kind of like the other ones. We went by last night about 9p and she and Daddy had picked all the lettuce in the garden and she was talking about what she was going to do with it. Also the Kale, Tomatos and everything else in the garden. She is so excited to be canning something. Seems like no matter how much or what she forgets, she always remembers how to can.
Daddy called about 7am and said he caught a coon in the box trap Tanner set on the back porch. That makes 2 that he has caught so far. I guess Spot did more around the place than they knew. Apparently the coons are coming to the back porch and getting in the trash. Probably only a matter of time before the BEARS find it and join the coons.
