We went to church and Mommy thoroughly enjoyed herself. She dozed off only 1 time for a few minutes. She stayed awake and looked at the people. We put her right up in front and sat her sideways so she could see the people and the preacher. She didn't say much at all but smiled at everyone. She told the pastors wife "I love you too". They sang "I Want to Stroll Over Heaven With You." But we didn't see any response at all from her. It was like she didn't recognize the song. And Me and Bobbie and Elliot sang "Mama's Treasures" but not sure she understood that either. She didn't even go to sleep on the way home. We finally got her in bed at 10:30.
Talk to ya'll tomorrow.

Praise the Lord for that good report Rita. Mommy you are eating so well. Julie said you can eat more than she can! I am so proud of you for walking that distance. Sure wish I could be there with you when you go to church and sit in your recliner. I will be there with you in spirit and I pray that you will enjoy the service. May God Bless you and you too Rita, Bobbie, Blain, Elliott and any others that help take her. Wow, such a great report. God is good.
OH, I forgot. Mommy has a Dr. appt Monday morning at 9:00 to get her staples out. Yeah!! Also the RN from home health came yesterday and got a urine sample to check for a UTI. Trish, what are we going to be getting from Home Health as far as PT..Nursing...?
Oh, I forgot. We went to say the blessing for breakfast and Mommy closed her eyes and said the prayer. We couldn't understand her except for the word, Thank. Praise The Lord!!

Mommy Update
Good Morning Ya'll~We have an excellent report on Mommy this morning! She slept all night last night (no Pain meds) and didn't get up until about 7:30. She didn't wake up at all except to turn over during the night (with Bobbie's help). She walked all the way from her bed to her chair in the living room by herself with me and Bobbie assisting. She ate a good breakfast (sausage, biscuit and gravy, apples and egg) with milk. We asked her if she would like for us to take her to her church and she smiled and said "I sure would." Bobbie said when you are spending your last days on earth, you ought to be able to do what you want to. Soo, if all goes well today, we will be taking her and her recliner to church tonight. Elliot and maybe Blain! will take care of the wheelchair and recliner for us.
We're going to give her a shower around noon and then put her to bed for a good nap. Will let you know how it goes. Church starts at 7:00 if any of you want to come.

Evening~Just checkin in to say that Mommy had a good day, Rested good, ate good and this evening she was back to laughin' at "Funniest Home Videos" and laughin' when we put her to bed. She is voiding on her own, which is wonderful. She walked much better today than she did yesterday and we are doing some exercises with her legs....joints. Tomorrow we are going to be sweatin' with the oldies! And we'll do our Jane Fonda workout before we ever get out of bed. Later
Mommy singing wading through deep water!
If you click on this link it will take you to Cindys videos of Mommy singing and a few others. Hope it works, it did for me!

Mommy made it to Ritas yesterday evening and got settled in. She looked happy to be home and definately seems to know everything that is going on!! Nothing is getting by her! She knew all of us, Bobbie and Elliott came and she knew her too. I told someone today at WalMart that I think she must've hit her head when she fell because she knows everything now!
Home health is supposed to come out today so I guess Rita will blog about that. She ate a fried egg for me before I left, she didn't want the hanovers, beans and potatoes! Go figure! She walked a little with the walker and got up to the potty and actually used it! We were afraid she would have to be cathed again. Rita thinks she may have a urinary tract infection again so I got an order for that today and hopefully they can get that in the works before the weekend.
Tanner has a ballgame in OakHill tonight! The weather is beautiful and fallish! I imagine Daddy would be harvesting every fruit, nut and berry and flower seed at this time if he was still with us!

Apparently I stirred up some turkey feathers!! My bad lol :p Rita, your posting on the 13th with the picture of Alley feeding grandma her homemade ice cream and chicken soup, I misread it. It could be taken as Alley or Addy though (that's just in my defense). I was looking so forward to "Nurse Addy" :)
We're going to blow this popsicle stand today! As soon as we get everything in order, we're outta here. Teresa is going to meet me at the house to help me get her in and stay until Bobbie and Elliot get there this evening. I think she is ready to go home to her bed and "I Love Lucy". I figure it will be early afternoon before we're actually on our way. Let you know when we get settled.
So glad Mommy had a good night, and Hoping she will have a great day, Good to hear all the new from you all,,Bobbie ,Marleigh sure is growing, and I bet she is a little spoiled, but that is what they are for , enjoy them while they are little , they grow up so fast. Trish , thanks for the pictures, Love them.
Mommy slept all night with only a Lortab at bedtime. She would rowse when I would turn her but go right back to sleep. I got her up to the potty about 7 and gave her a bath while I had her up. Got her up in the recliner and she is stretched out waiting on breakfast. My ex-boss's mother is in the next room. I got her job 2 months before I left and they transferred her to another territory. After I left, they gave her job back to her. They should have never taken it from her in the first place. It was nice to see her and her mother. I had met her mom and dad on several occasions. Her father died about 2 years ago. Breakfast is coming.
Morning All
So glad to hear you had a good full day yesterday Mom. You'll have to get some rest today for your trip home tomorrow. You look so pretty in your pictures! And sounds like you are doing your best to get along with those girls! That's the Momma I know.
We are having beautiful fall like days here. What exactly is the Indian summer days? The walnuts are beginning to fall, what little we have this year. One tree did not even bother to bear at all. Our corn got about as high as Marleigh and then it stopped growing because we got no rain at the time.
My little peewee goes home today. She's waving good-by with those little fingers now. She was the best little thing in church last night. I've always thought that we ought to hear the voices of children in the house of God, but Marleigh got the hiccups right in the middle of pastors explanation of Daniel's visions and it was hard to pay attention! She's my sweetheart anyway! She's beginning to recognize her church family and I love to see her "light up" when she sees someone she remembers. She's all slobbers and smiles! We are trying to teach her about the Lord God who made her and I don't think you can start too early! Love to all!

Mommys Day
We got a late start this morning. Teresa helped me give her a bath before she left, Mommy held on the the back of a chair and stood up while we washed her and she did good at weight bearing its just getting her feet to move and that will take time or may never improve but if she can stand and pivot and feel like she is contributing then that's enough for me. I wheeled her down to the elevators when Teresa left and we watched kids from the high school walk off the tennis courts. She raised up in her chair to see the last one go. I told her it might be Jacob or Tanner; that sparked an interest!
She ate good today. Salmon for lunch with mashed potatoes, yellow wax beans and buttered potatoes for supper with chopped steak( she didn't do the steak) but did enjoy the beans. I try everything before I give it to her then she acts like if I don't make a terrible face she will eat it. She had cake too and ice cream. Not a lot of any of it but little bites add up. She had some blueberries after lunch and she chewed and chewed on the skin and of course the longer she chewed the more bitter they became. So I told her to chew the good out of it then spit out the rest and she ate quite a few. I told her to eat as much as she wanted but when she was done I wanted her to tell me. And she did, she said I am done.
She had several of her church family there today. Harvey Bryant, Jean and Robie Midkiff, Georgia, Susan Hutsenpiller, Wanda-Alma's daughter-, plus all the friendly staff from the floor. Danny popped in this evening and she even knew him. She hasn't known him for a long time-even before the stroke! She has gotten several cards and I hung them up on her wall so it at least looks homey!
I thought she was going to break out in song and dance when Harvey Bryant was there. He was talking about Heaven and remembering all that Mommy has prayed for him and how she could always lift his spirits; she smiled soooo big. That is him in the picture I am posting. Then when the Midkiffs came they talked about wanting to hear her sing I'm Wading Through Deep Water, I think she would so love to go to church and see her church family. I told them I was going to get her there even if she comes in her recliner, gown and housecoat, blanket and pillow! They thought that would be wonderful. They even said it wouldn't matter if she slept through the service, there were others that nodded off too! So that is my mission.
I gave Mommy a Malibu Treatment for her scalp. Its supposed to be good for thinning hair. I got it from Danny's sister who is a beautician. Covered the bed with pads and wrapped her neck in towels and went to scrubbing. She really enjoyed getting her head scrubbed. While I was at it I cut about 3 inches of dead hair off and I showed it to her. She had to feel it then reach back and feel to make sure there was some left! Then I combed it out on her pillow to dry. That's when Rita came in. She rested well today without pain meds and her physical therapist walked her a third of the way up the hall. She is still planning on coming home Friday if all goes well.
I did ask her if she ever got tired and wanted to go on to Heaven and she looked at me and said "yes" Then I asked, "Mommy, are you tired now and ready to go to Heaven?" and again she said "yes"
She told Harvey Bryant she was just waiting on him to call her name! I told him she was hard of hearing so was listening real good for that call and that would be one she would definitely hear! I also told her when God got ready for her not to hang on for us because we knew she was going to a better place and we would all see her there someday with Daddy. That brought big smiles and a few tears!
What she is lacking in physical strength right now, God has graced her with peace of mind and I thank him for that!
Woe, ho , if that's the treatment you get at GVMC, Get me a bed right with your Rita, Wow, I bet mommy feels like a beauty Queen now, with all that tender loving care, I hope it made you feel better mommy, beauty treatments always make you feel better, Right!
Here I thought Addy was changing courses in midstream, thought she had done got fed up with all those lovely sweet kids LOL.Right Addy?If they are like some i know , it's no wonder.Well gotta go do my chores, Love you mommy.praying for you.
Whoa! Whoa! Back the truck up!! Where did you read that Addy was going to Nursing School, Monica??? What the heck is she talking about, Addy???
I got here at the hospital at 6 and it looks like Mommy has been to the beauty shoppe! She's had a haircut and a hair treatment of some kind from the beauty parlor. I thought this was a hospital! Maybe I need to check in to this place.

Nursing school! Oh my goodness NO! I am still teaching. The lady at the hospital, Ally, is going to nursing school. She is a CNA and she was working at the hospital when Grandma had her stroke. She was just as sweet as she could be. Lets hope my tender heart and caring soul can be heard over my loud screams at the snotty-nosed pre-teens! (And I really mean snotty-nosed, not stuck up but sickly) When I stayed with Grandma Sunday night she seemed to be much better than she was Friday night when I stayed with her. I know she's got some ways to go, but any improvement is note-worthy. And Sunday night, Shaun Johnson popped in to see her but didn't stay long because she was sleeping (Forgot to tell you earlier, Mom).
-Amy, you can have my share of hanovers. I don't mind.
-So...Mom and Dad's tv hasn't been working for a bit and the repair man was up at Mom's today. Apparently something of the canine sort may have chewed through the cable. And apparently it was one of mine...Mom and Dad kept the hounds Labor Day Weekend when me and Paul were out of town and I guess they got bored. I tried to tell Mom it could have been Olivia or Kaiden but she didn't buy it!
I know it's probably like this with you guys at work too, but everybody I work with keeps asking about Grandma. I guess I didn't realize how much I talk about her because they seem to know quite a bit about her and are pretty concerned that she get back home, almost as much as we are!
Keep blogging! Love yall!

Grandma, you are looking so good!! You look rested and peaceful in your pics. I bet those nurses love your company :) Rita, sorry I can't make it for the hanovers but I do fully understand the mouth watering. I know how my mouth waters right before I get ready to vomit :( It's such a bad feeling LOL!!! I guess you just have to have a taste for them. I know Grandma will like them though. Did I understand the blog correctly that Addy turned in her notice for teaching to go to nursing school? If so, that is wonderful! Addy, you have a loving and tender heart, you would do a lot of patients some good. From yals stay in Charleston I'm sure you know how important that is. I can't believe our blog has made it to so many countries, that is awesome. Does anyone know any of the people in those countries with the exception of Michelle and her family (hellooooooo Michelle)? Marleigh goes to the dr. Friday for her 6 month checkup. Can't wait to see how much my little sack of taters weighs. Love to all :)
Morning All~I can't believe that anyone, other than family, would want to read our blog! That floors me. I'm going to dig a fresh hanover (I know, Amy, you will be packing you car today to come and get some) and cook for Mommy when she comes home. I bet she will like that. Put a big ole' piece of bacon in it and make a pot of beans. I know ya'lls (haha) mouth is waterin'. Now don't all of you plan to come for dinner unless you let me know so I can dig enough HANOVERS! :)

Mommy did well today. She had company, Elmer and Vera, Helen and Jesse, Shaun Johnson, Susan Sybil, the twins and Emma! She knew Elmer and Vera right off the bat and Helen and Jesse after I jogged her memory. When the twins and Emma came in she sat on the edge of her seat and just smiled and stared.
She ate a good breakfast, a decent lunch and a fair supper. She asked for water during the day and reached for it with her hands and sucked it up in the straw, but of course I know tomorrow may be different. But one day at a time I guess. PT is going good but of course she wasn't doing all that much before the fall...She seems to me somewhat depressed. She gets the look of longing in her eyes when she hears songs that are reminiscent of heaven. I think sometimes she just holds on for us and in fact is more than ready to go as soon as God whispers her name. Yesterday when Ernie and Enola were there Ernie had prayer with her and she just closed her eyes and prayed right along.
Teresa came this evening and I will go back in the morning after I get the kids off to school. Jacob has his first JV football game tomorrow night and he is super excited.
He also had to write his first essay: HOW TO BEHAVE IN HEALTH CLASS! I said so is this you know like a class project? And he smiles and said no that one of his buddies said something and of course Jacob had to laugh. So there you go...And to think I have 6 more years of this!
The picture of Mommy laying in bed is of her looking at her flowers. The yellow roses are from Rita, the pink roses are from Danny and my boys, the next bouquet is from Vonda and family with the balloon. the tea cup roses are from Rita and Blain, the boo boo bear is from Addy, and the little guard dog on Mommy's pillow is from Jacob. Not sure who sent the fruit basket. She enjoys the flowers but not nearly as much as her little blossoms from Heaven that God have her, and her children, and her children's children!!

Thanks for keeping us updated via the Blog.
Bobbie~ Sounds like Landon and Kaiden would get along really well since they have so much in common:) They might have a tiny disagreement over the kabota/ Kioti/John Deere thing though:) Glad all is well with your babies.
Vonda~ Glad Vesta likes school. Post pics for Livvy:)
Grandma~ Hope you are feeling well today and we love you! I know those bisuits and gravy don;t compare to yours, but try to eat anyway.
Mom~ I can stay Thurs, Fri or Sat night to relieve someone. Let me know so I can work it out with the sitter.

Mommy ate a great breakfast. She ate all of her suasage gravy, 1/2 biscuit, almost all of her oatmeal and her nutritional shake. She drank some milk and then ate a jar of applesauce with her meds. I gave her meds to her, gave her a bath and got her up to a recliner. She is sleeping so she should be rested when PT is ready for her. Trish will be over later to stay until Teresa relieves her.
Good Morning Mommy, I love the pictures of you ,I bet you never thought you would get this much exposure in you life. But it's good to see you if it is only on the blog. It sure looks like you have a lot of good caring people around you there in the hospital,I am praying for a great day for you , and I hope Rita read's this to you, Lol, I will check in on you later ,I am helping the girls get ready for school, Vesta started this year and she love's it.Love you all
Mornin~Mommy went to sleep shortly after her meds at 9. She had a Lortab at bedtime and woke up at 3 uncomfortable (Even after being turned from side to side throughout the night) so she had tylenol. She was wide awake at 5, so I sat her up in bed, gave her dentures to her, turned the TV on and she went sound asleep. I'm hoping she is rested good for breakfast. She just can't eat when she is tired. Bobbie and Elliot are coming on Thurs. evening and staying through the weekend. I will need help getting her settled in since her physical status has changed. Going to have to modify things. Trish is coming today from 9 - 5. Teresa is coming after that.
Good morning Momma
Marleigh and I hope you have a better day today. We pray someone will bring you something real tempting to eat and you will feel like eating more today!
We are going to the library today for storytime at 10:30, so say a word for us that Landon and Shawn Micheal will behave and use their best manners! We started back last week from being off for the summer and they did good. Abby went to school this year and I sure miss her helping me corral them at times. She is loving school and so excited because she "knows all that stuff already" she says. I love the way they use songs to teach them everything! Landon can say his ABC's and is potty trained now! Another hurdle! We have a train on wheels at a playground in town. We were looking at pictures the other day and saw one just like it and I was acting excited and Landon deflatedly said "It has flat tires." The wheels were buried in sand and did indeed look like they were flat. He was letting me know right off that machines with flat tires was nothing to excite yourself over. He is so perceptive and all boy! He's big on Kaboda stuff! His dad is taking him dove hunting! Love you'll

Evenin~When I got here, They had just brought supper/dinner and Mommy wouldn't eat a thing. She spit it back out. She went to sleep shortly after that and slept until 8:00. When she woke up, I gave her a banana and she fed herself all of it except 3 little bites which she offered me. The aid, Alley, is feeding her cream of chicken soup right now. She was here when Mommy was in the hospital with her stroke and she took a liking to her. She asked her if she would eat some soup if she went and made her some homemade soup. She is eating really good for her. I gave her meds to her so she will probably sleep good. Turns out, she didn't eat much soup, but every bite counts.
Mommy is having a good day! She was up in the chair for breakfast when I got here and addy said she did fair which means a few bites of about everything and then clamps down on that spoon. Physical therapy came in and they went from sitting to standing about three times by then she was getting the hang of it. She walked a few steps and actually beared weight on that hip. She stayed up til lunch dozing and sleeping. Pt wants her up as much as possible for her leg but also her lungs. She ate just a few bites of home made vegetable soup for lunch and drank some tomato juice then she pulled herself upright on the chair and looked at the bed and then looked at me then back to the bed. You don't have to tell me twice so I got the nurse and we put her to bed and she did well with standing. Georgia came to see her this morning and she knew her. Linda hamrick from mommys church was here and Enola and Ernie Fitzwater were here and she knew them. She sleeps while we visit and she will wake up every now and then and smile and go back to sleep. Dr Anderson started her on cozaar and her bp came down good and that was even after walking with physical therapy. The dietician was in and wanted to know if everything was ok and what they could do better. I told them a little debbie cake once in a while would be good. So she should be getting those. Also she is going to start getting smoothies with fruit and some kind of high protein treat. So I guess even if she just gets it all day a bite here and a note there will add up! We are watching the gaithers and she enjoys the music and I am scrapbooking.
She does look like she is getting a yeast infection in her mouth so I got medicine for that. She has only had Tylenol for pain and has really done well. She wakes up easily and doesn't appear drugged. Hazel her sister is on the phone now ao I will blog more when I know it.
Rita I will come back tomorrow morning.

Hey all~ I came home yesterday about 4:30 and Addy relieved me. She stayed until 9 this morning and Trish relieved her. I am going back this evening and relieve Trish at 5 and stay until tomorrow evening when Teresa comes to relieve me until about 1 on Wednesday. I have to be here Wed. morning to let the Direct TV guy in so Mommy will have TV when she gets home. It went out when Ruth and Dan were here.
It is looking like she will come home on Friday unless something happens. Tryin' to get her BP under control. Addy said she slept good last night but woke up once and squeezed her hand and Addy said she thinks she was singing. She couldn't make out what, (That's the first thing I asked :) Trish will blog later I'm sure. We are also going to try to give her Motrin for pain so she is not sleeping all the time. I think she will eat good once she can stay awake. It's hard to say how much pain she is having and of course none of us want to think of her being in pain. Pain is a stimulator though, which can be good in some ways. She is probably just sore from the surgery and most of you know how that feels. But she is in good hands at GVMC so I know they are doing all they can. AND I didn't have to use my Pine-Sol even once!!

I am so glad she enjoyed her company, maybe now she can rest better , now that she feels more at home, and got all that company, yes, mommy does love her little ones, guess thats the way it supposed to be, LOL guess us old folks just have to get over it.
Happy Birthday Blain, How many more gray hairs has Rita given you ? Lol Sure hope not many. Love you all .
Mommy has had a full day and it is just 2:30. First, Trish, Danny, Tanner and Jacob came and brought her Roses. Then Lonnie, Marcia, Ariel and her friend came. Mommy ate lunch while they were all here. She ate pretty good. She tires easily but she went right to sleep after she ate. Then Ruthie Helmick came, and Shawn, Kelli, Chandler, and Presley came. Mommy lights up when she sees the kids, sorry you older folk. She just smiled and smiled at Presley and Chandler. When Shawn left, he told her he loved her and she said just plain as day, "I love you, too." She's sleeping now. I put her back in the bed and she is on her side sawing logs. She will probably need a pain pill when she wakes up. I got a little ensure down her and a bite of apple pie that Trish brought her. We'll try some more of that later! I wish I would have gotten some pics, but I just forgot.
This is Mommy after her bath. She is waiting on lunch and her company. PT walked her alittle and I can tell we have a long way to go to get her back on her feet. She knew to put one foot in front of the other but it took her along time to process that. She is not standing straight, therefore not bearing weight completely. She tires easily so a little at a time is all she can tolerate. Dr. Anderson came in to see her and her bp is good, it seems, as long as we keep the pain under control.
Daniel, Sorry I couldn't get to the phone, I was bathing her when you called and then I was afraid to call back, I figured you would be at church. Feel free to call back this afternoon. I will try to remember to take pics with her company today.
When I take her home, I will not be able to handle her alone, nor will Teresa, until we get her back on her feet. We may have to modify our arrangement.
yea, Rita, if this had sound to it we would sure let you know you are not wasting your time, you would be tempted to tune us out LOL. So glad Mommy is feeling better ,and We will be praying for her so you be sure and tell her, We love her and you guys too for taking such good care of OUR Mother. God Bless Each and every one of you is My prayer.Love you all Kiss Mom for me ok.
If you get too lonely, we can arrange to have you called every 5 min. Rita Ha!HA! Love you
We are so glad that mom is back in GV. Thank the Lord she is doing better with the BP. Thanks to all that are taking care of mom, especially those that are staying with her at the Hospital. Rita, tell mom that we love her and hope to see her before too long. We love you and are prayers are with you. We just tried to call you Rita on your cell phone at 08:20, we'll try again after church.
So glad Mommy slept well last night. I know you must be sooooo glad you are "back among a friendly staff". We're praying for you too Rita, (and others who come to serve and care for Mommy) that your strength will be increased. I love you Mommy and hope you are able to eat today and drink all your liquids.
Is anybody reading this? If not, I won't waste my time. I'll just sit here and read a book. It's gets lonely sitting in a hospital by yourself. It would be nice to get a word back now and then.
Mommy took her Zofran 30 min. before she ate breakfast and then she ate pretty good. For Her! She ate a bowl of cream of wheat. I put some ground up sausage in it and then she ate about 1/2 piece of french toast, a few bites of scrambled egg and appr. 3 oz of milk. She gets ensure 3X a day and I give her a drink of that every little bit. She is sleeping now, eating breakfast wore her out. I'm gonna get her bathed, dressed and up in a chair.
I know she is going to get swamped with company today, but please keep it to a minimum. Don't come and stay all day. She needs to eat and sleep, you can visit all you want to when she gets home. This is a small room and won't hold many. 2 chairs. That's about it for now. PT is here.

Mommy slept good during the night. She woke up once and was just laying there awake for some time. I finally throwed my covers on her (I think she was cold) and got in bed with her and we slept until she started moaning at 5:30. I called for a Lortab and the RN brought it with a cup of fresh coffee for me. You won't see that at CAMC. The Lortab should work before breakfast and the nurse has already brought me the zofran to give her a little before her breakfast arrives. I hope I can get alot of food down her because she hasn't eaten "enough to keep a cat alive." She isn't on IV fluids now, so we have to keep her hydrated and fed. They emptied her catheter and got 1000 cc's. Her feet aren't swollen now at all. It looks like it rained last night. We have a view of the ER parking lot. We are at the back of the hospital, the opposite end from the elevator. I like it back here, it is nice and quiet.
