When we were young we made plans. We wanted kids-2,3,5-only God knew- It was in his hands.
We picked out names before they were needed. We knew one day there would be an Emily Renee,
the names Tanner and Jacob came with lots of weeding.
We wanted a house, a place of our own, with a yard for flowers, trees, and of course the "kid zone".
A house is not all we got as our plans became real but a home with God, laughter and children with zeal.
As we raised our family some plans became forgotten and dreams were put on back burners. T-ball, football and
school trips were now a priority-and believe it or not time for kids to get their learners.
Emily, now a senior in college, becoming a physician is her dream.
Tanner a freshman, physical therapy is his theme.
Jacob in Middle School, he has no plans just dreams, which is how it should be when you are a pre-teen.
To bag a big buck or hunt the black bear, ride a motorcycle, have a hundred pets, or to take a dangerous dare.
My plans for my children are no more, but I do dream of them being happy in love with someone they adore.
Our plans for our future have been put on hold. Like so many others, Cancer has become the uninvited guest, like the flu or a cold. But deal with it we must, God has placed this in our path, for God has plans of his own. We do not know what they are, but what we have always known is God loves his children, and that we are certain, no matter if we are near or far.
I have quit planning, God is in control, but dream I still can.
There is only one dream I hold dear to my heart and that is to grow old with Danny, that was our dream from the start. So many plans have come and gone, some fulfilled and some left alone. But dreams are forever and this one thing I know, Growing old and gray with someone you love is one of Gods greatest gifts sent from above.
