To My Coal Mining Husband
Often when under the mountains you goTo make us a living by mining coalTo God above a prayer I prayThat He keep you safe throughout the day. That He'll bring you home to your family you loveThat we may strive together for that home aboveWith strength and health for your body He'll supplyAnd when you need Him most, He'll hear your cry. When morning comes and off to work you goMy loneliness for you I try not to showPatiently through the day I waitAnd trust you with God by His marvelous faith. Many dangers could come throughout the dayThat from your family you'd be taken awayBut on bended knees I often sayGod keep him safe through another day.And when to that beautiful home we goWith friends and relatives whom we love soYou'll never know the joy there is in my heartAt the thought of being together and never apart. With an honest heart I thank God aboveFor you, a husband he gave me to loveYet many things in life we don't understandBut by the love He has given us we walk hand in hand
