Marleigh fished for the first time today!!  Corey baited her line and as soon as he cast it in she had a bite.  Of course he reeled it in for her.  It was a little stinker but we were excited.  She wouldn't touch the fish but we got her to hold the line for the pic :)  We had dad's family reunion and it was a beautiful day for it.  The clouds rolled in around 4ish and it started to rain and it brought a wonderful breeze with it.  There was cornholin' going on as well lol :)
Hi Trish and Danny, We are so glad to hear that you are back home. There is nothing like home. We are praying for the needs that you mentioned, strength, appetite and being able to sleep. I know we serve a God who can meet every one of those needs. We love you and just to let you know there's a lot of people here praying for you.

On Wednesday, the 4th, we had a parade in town.  It was already getting hot that morning but we found a big tree to stand under and keep cool :)  From what I understand Rita, Ruth and Addy have been getting rain!!!  Praise the Lord!!!  Marleigh is praying for Doris, let us know :)  We came up and had a wonderful visit with Danny and Trish Thursday morning.  We went on 219.  I don't remember ever going that way before but it was pretty scenery.  I noticed that a lot of the barns had pictures on the front of them above the barn doors.  One looked like a quilt and others were just different designs.  Does anyone know what the deal is with that?  It was neat, I've just never seen it anywhere else before.  On the okra, I've only eaten it fried as well.  I think it was rolled in cornmeal maybe.  That's how Ryan's does it lol.  Matthew, did you say that was your favorite place? LOL!!
Backing up a bit.....When the first storm hit we were at work.  I was working in a room that had a pass through window in it and was on the exterior of the building.  It was just about 9 pm and I was right beside the window when my gate started blowing with the wind.  As soon as I saw it I heard this very loud noise that sounded like a train.  Mom has told me and I've seen on tv that people say tornadoes sound like a train.  When it hit me that I had never heard a train at work and we didn't have any train tracks nearby I instantly began to feel sick at my stomach because I just knew there was a tornado outside (Praise the Lord I was wrong!!).  However, as soon as I began to feel sick I immediately started praying and looking for something to get under or hold onto should the need arise (the sounds coming from the roof weren't comforting :().  The sound lasted maybe a few minutes then went away but the wind stayed around for quite some time.  Of course we have all heard of the damage and devastation that came with this storm.  We were fortunate to not loose power but it did flicker on and off that night.  The second storm was not near as bad.  The wind was pretty high again, there was some wicked lightning and we got about 2 hours worth of rain from it :)  I think mom has already said that we weren't able to have church for a week.  I'm happy to see most everyone has their power back.  Rita, have you gotten yours yet?

We got home last night around7. He is breathing better but is still really weak and stays so tired. Eating very little just nibbling around. He rested better being home and in his recliner but just can't sleep. They have given him so much pain meds that he is still in a brain fog and he is trying to get that cleared up. Continue to remember him in your prayers!

Cookin' Okra

The only way that I have eaten okra is the way they cook it in the South:  sliced in circles, dipped in batter and deep-fried.

Why are you posting under my name, Addy?  That is Addy's potatoes and squash.  I'm getting cukes, loads of peas, squash, and soon I will have pear tomatoes.  I planted Okra this year and it is growing!!  What the heck am I going to do with that?  How do you cook Okra?

Hey everybody! I wasn't sure how my potatoes were going to do after the storm blew all my vines down so I dug a little vine this evening and to my surprise, I'm going to have a few potatoes after all! And I'm going to have bukus? Bookoos? Of squash! You get the picture! I know for you seasoned gardeners this probably seems pretty small, but this is the first thing I've gotten this year and I'm so excited! My first garden didn't do so well. Thank you Lord for your blessings on me!

How hot is it?

IT'S SO HOT in  OHIO that------
.....the birds have to use potholders to pull the worms out of the ground.
.....the trees are whistling for the dogs.
.....the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance
.....hot water comes from both taps.
.....you can make sun tea instantly.
.....you learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.
.....the temperature drops below 90 F and you feel a little chilly.
.....you discover that in July it only takes two fingers to steer your car.
.....you discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.
.....you actually burn your hand opening the car door.
.....you break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 A.M.
.....your biggest motorcycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death"?
.....you realize that asphalt has a liquid stage.
.....the potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and add butter.
.....the cows are giving evaporated milk.
.....farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.

IT'S SO DRY IN Ohio that the Baptists are starting to baptize by sprinkling, the Methodists are using wet-wipes, the Presbyterians are giving rain checks, and the Catholics are praying for the wine to turn back into water!
