Happy Birthday, Steve!
Happy Birthday, Steve, only one thing wrong with seeing your birthday roll around, I know mine is right behind ya, + TEN..... na, just kidding, I am blessed. It was ninty degees here today, had a yard sale. Cindy made over a hundred dollars and we out and watched the traffic and visited with her daughter. We send our best to all our family everywhere you find yourself. Love you guys. Timmy and Cindy
Good Morning , And Happy Birthday Steve, How does it feel to be 42, wish I was that age again LOL Hope you have a Happy Day.
Glad Lonnie is doing better , You just keep him in line Marsha, So he dosn't get any set back's.
Bobbie it sounds like you are having a wonderful time with your grand daughter, making memories. Glad Adam made it to Fl. Ok too. Well tell Mommy hi and I love her and hope she will have a wonderful day, and Blessing's to all ,Love you guys.
Good morning all,
It has been nice to hear from all you guys this week! Rita has a way of gettin' the ball rollin'! She'll have us crawling out of the woodwork yet won't she? I told you guys we have some movers and shakers in our family!
Adam got to Panamal City last night. Safe and sound. Said the beach was white and hot down there!
Had coffee about 10pm and you see what happened. Woke at 3am and was ready to get up and start the day! I hear little peawee over in her crib just sucking her fingers like no tomorrow! The train goes by at her place at this time every morning, and we have deduced that it must be waking her up. As long as she doesn't scream at me I'm going to just listen at her.
We went to visit Elliott's brother Grant last evening. Had a nice visit. He is back in the next town over, in our neck of the woods. Say a prayer for him when you think of us. He is beginning to pick up the threads of his life on the outside again and we are hoping and praying that all will go well for him this time. He has been away for about 6yrs but things are looking good for him. Pray that we will be the influence that God desires us to be. He needs salvation that only the Lord can give more than anything! I told him I am going to get him some binoculars and the movie "Disturbia" so he will have something to do! Ha!
Marcia, is Lonnie progressing on schedule to what the doctors predicted. I take it his ribs are all healed up. Will he be off his crutches come his birthday? He's not doing too much too fast?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE! I didn't forget, I knew it was at the end of June......somewhere=) Just like Lonnie's and Rita's is the end of July! Somewhere! I'm terrible at dates! I think it is the memory thing!
Good morning Momma! Hope you have a good day with blessings galore! So many you just can't count them all. "With my hands lifted up Lord, and my mouth filled with praise! With a heart of thanksgiving, I will bless thee Oh Lord!"

That's right Steve . . . Happy Birthday little brother . . . little, you're taller than all of us, except maybe Daniel. Hope you have a good one, we're still praying for your job situation.
Lonnie, take care of yourself and keep doing what the physical therapist tells you. Marcia, keep him in line. Michael, Devin and I are going out in the Gulf on his boat tomorrow. Will let you know if we do any good. They caught some sharks last time.
So long . . . or as they say here, Later Gator

Hey Trish, tell Tanner that Lonnie said he was taking care of things around the house. But I knew he was lying to me. Lonnie is doing fairly well. His legs swell alot when he is up on them. He walks mainly with the crutches until he gets tired then he uses the electric scooter. He talks about driving but has yet to try. He knows it would be hard for him due to he still has limited movement of his rt. foot and lower part of his leg. His lt. hip still bothers him also. The skin graft is healed, no open areas.
Boy , mommy is learning how to keep you two in line fast, that's just too funny,
I hope you all know you make are day also ,with all the antic's you tell us about mommy.you all sure keep us entertained, we don't need TV.When we read the thing's you all tell us about ,it's almost like being there with you guys. The picture of mommy sleeping , is just like David does only he puts his oxygen hose upon his forehead, then wonders where it went.
Well, it's nice to hear from all of you too. I won't lie to you, it is hard. When you don't get any sleep because Mommy is awake and wanting to get up, and the first hour of your day is getting her cathed, fed, hair brushed and face washed, meds down her, and of course our morning trip to the potty, it is demanding. But we are the ones who are making the memories and she is a hoot sometimes. She repeats everything you say if you're talking to her. Yesterday, Teresa said she had gas on her stomach and I told Mommy to tell her to "Let It Rip". And she did! Oh ya'll loosen up, I don't care who ya are, " 'At right 'er was funny." I told her not to say that if the Preacher comes to visit, and she Hee Haw'd!
As Ya'll know, her bowels have always been a problem. But I'm here to tell you, I think we got it worked out! This morning we got some action in the bathroom. Let me tell you about a little trick she pulls! When she is finished eating and doesn't want anymore, she either closes her eyes like she is asleep or just looks off and ignores you. As soon as you give up, she opens her eyes and is wide awake.
Well, that's your update for the morning, I'll fill you in on the funnies this evening.

Lonnie is not only up on his cruthes but he is working as well. Tanner is working around his house so that he can work his machines. His right leg with the graft is still swelling so he cuts the work day short to go home and put it up.
Looks like mommy is teaching the physical therapists a thing or two!

Our appreciations for your good work.
Blaine, Rita, Teresa, Steve and all the PT's. It is of our Greatest Appreciation that I write this with regards to all your efforts. I know it is very taxing, to say the least. We all know, without doubt, Mom is getting the "BEST" of care. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts, and we can't put into words just how much we enjoy seeing the pictures and reading the (News) from "Backus"! Distance just doesn't allow us the time we would like to be there with Mom and help you guys out as we would like. But Thank the Lord, Mom has you guys. We don't post as much as we should, but for myself and I think I speak for all of us, I do look sooooo forward to reading about your day with Mom, each and every morning, and evening, first thing when I get up and last before bed, and do enjoy it so. God Bless you in every aspect of you being and just know we are with you in our prayers. Please don't stop posting and call us if you need to at any time... Love you, Timmy and Cindy
Momma, you're lookin' good! Is she drinking coffee? I thought it was tea! How did that come about? She still knows the baby isn't real. Right? Just one more thing to laugh about, right? Should that day come we will have to get her a real to life feeling baby! When my memory goes(And it's trying to slip away from me now!) I hope I remember these things about my mom; her laughter, her uplifted arms praising the Lord and her warm soft hugs around me! I love you Mom!
Did anyone hear, is Lonnie up on his crutches and doing alright?

We took some pics today. No, Mommy is not praising the Lord, she is doing Physical Therapy! She fell asleep on the nurse in one pic. She was talking one minute and sleeping the next. She was so funny.
Marleigh is growing so fast and she is so beautiful. I think she favors her old Aunt Rita!
Mommy is doing good except her BP is really low during the day. We have stopped the Catapress Patch to see if that helps.
Daniel, What are you putting on those tomatoes? Tell Alice to stay away from the fat and sugar!
Hi Vonda, Alice's appt for her eval. for the gallstones surgery is on July 7 soooo we are just waiting and watching the diet just in case there might be another flare up. Will keep everyone posted.
Please don't stop the blogging from Backus Mt., you say everything sooo well there is no need for us to comment. :) I checked the tomato plants today and found about 5 or 6 that is just about ripe, they should make it for the 4 of July.
Our Prayers are with you as you take care of mom. Tell Blane that I said Hi and that we appreciate all that he is doing for the family.
Love and Prayers

Tell mommy that Rita and see if she remembers , it used to scare me and mommy would laugh about it.
Good morning all! Another of my favorite people to view on the blog! Isn't she gorgeous? She is growing indeed! My arm knows it when she goes home. She is coming back today to stay with me for another 4-day stretch. She sure knows her mommy! She was grinning all over herself at our church family last night. I am so proud of her!
Adam just left for Florida this morning. Say a prayer for traveling grace for Travis Martin's family as they all visit their vacation house on the beach down there. We told him to keep his feet out of the oil=)!
Let me get this right Rita. You and Teresa are out walking Mom on the highway in this 90 something degrees heat? Oh, yeah, yaw'll all probably had your shorts on. I think we would like a picture of that girls! Kidding aside. See Rita, I told you when you don't blog all about "yaw'll's life up there on the mountain" you deny us something we deem really precious! It is like you are keeping a journal of Mom's remaining days upon this earth. I'm jealous too! I told you everyone likes to read about her! Are we adding one more thing to your "to do list?" Well, what are families for=) I love you both for the kindness that comes from your heart and for those loving hands that touch my mother, doing the things she has always done for herself but cannot do anymore. Our hats are off to you both! You too Blain! I am thanking God today for all of my remembrances of you all! Love you. Someone in scripture was "full of good works." That must have been you guys!!!

Amy, how are things going for you? Keep us posted, it won't be long!!
I feel as though I have been scolded by the Treadway finger. Thanks Rita!! I will blog too lol! I have been reading everyday as well but we've also been a little busy here too. Friday we had to work so I got up at 2 pm to go over to moms and visit with Marleigh before coming back home and getting ready. On my way across town I saw black smoke that looked like it was close to where we live. As I followed a fire truck into my apartment complex I saw Mark walking on down the drive toward the bottom parking lot. A truck that was parked beside my Mustang was engulfed in flames. The owners weren't home so it was quite a shock to them as well when they got there. No one was hurt, Praise the Lord!! It looks like it's just alot of cosmetic damage mainly to the driver's side. We went on into work after everything was taken care of and worked off Sunday morning. We had lunch with mom, dad and the boys for Father's Day. Since Monday I have been dealing with the insurance over the car. I have learned an interesting fact! If your vehicle is damaged and the owner is not found to be negligent, they don't have to pay for damage to your car!! "That is the law", so I was told, so I had to file the claim with my insurance. Praise the Lord, again, that I have a $0 deductible so I don't have to pay anything out of pocket.
Grandma, I'm so glad you are improving at such a great pace. I think you and Marleigh are getting on the same sleep schedule. She is starting to take less nap time during the day and sleeping all through the night. I agree with Vonda, I would keep an eye on the doll as well. She may end up with a cath LOL :) Steve, I hope you are enjoying your trip. I know you are missing your HONEY and she is missing you.
Rita, don't you stop blogging. I always look at the blog, sometimes two or three times a day but I do it from work and I am not able to blog from there. The pictures you post of Momma are wonderful and priceless to us who are so far away. It's like we can visit every day and stay in touch. Take some pictures of Teresa too and let her take some of you. We want to see your pretty face too girl!
Julie said "Hey" and she loves to see the pictures and messages too. She just forgot how to log in and post messages but tonight I reminded her so you may hear from her next.
Love you all.

You guys don't know what you're missing! Mommy is hilarious. This evening, Blain and I were pickin' at each other and Mommy hadn't been talkin' much at all. I told her to tell Blain to hush up! She just piped up and said "I didn't hear him say anything" and then just laughed! Teresa and I took her out on the porch so they could watch me plant some flowers and she kept wanting to get up. She rocks like she is trying to gain momentum and she kept doing that until she was halfway up! Now that is quite an accomplishment but THEN she wanted to go for a walk. Sooo, we walked her DOWN the steps, down the walk, and she wanted to keep going so we walked her up to the road. When we came back, she knew to raise her leg and take a step, and that is amazing, considering that she has had trouble putting one foot in front of the other. She is making progress by leaps and bounds. That's not to say that there are times when she isn't as vocal as other times. But we have noticed that she isn't as active when her BP is lower and that is understandable. She has worn Teresa out today, she stayed here while I went to Beckley for awhile, and Mommy was up and down all day, but slept very little. We are praying she is tired enough to sleep tonight. LOL Ya'll keep praying for us!!!
Mom
Praise the Lord and don't quit bloggin'. We sometimes have time to read but not respond, especially during the day. Can't wait to see my Honey and my Momma, you too Rita. Lol.

well sure glad Mommy is doing good, she will be getting fat at the rate she is going,LOL But that would be good for her, a little so is she talking any better? I will call her tomorrow , even if she cant really talk to me good yet.But I have had my hands a little bit full on this end, if you know what I mean today. You girls are doing a super job, and I am really proud of you , and I might say a little jealous of you ,it sounds like Mommy is keeping you all in a laughing mood. But that is good too. better than the crab I have. The thing about the patch is just too funny.you will have to keep an eye on her for that one.she may have something else up her sleeve that you don't know about.Tell her We love her ,and you all too.
OK~If ya'll ain't gonna talk back to me and Teresa, we're gonna quit bloggin' cause we don't know if you're readin' what we're writin' or not! And if we quit writin' you'll have to call to see how Mommy's doin'! So There.....
She has done very good today. She is taking her pills like a trooper. We have added her Herbal Laxative that she has been taking for a long time. Giving her 1 in the morning and 1 at night. We had stopped them because they are "horse" pills and too hard to swallow. She is eating really good and she eats the home cooking much better than the prepared food. To give you an idea, this is what she's eaten today'
For breakfast: A whole banana and a bowl of butter flavored grits. For lunch she had a whole bowl of chicken noodle soup, saltine crackers, butterscotch pudding. For a snack later, she had 8 oz. of grapefruit pieces. Then for supper, she had ravioli, fried potatoes, fresh tomatoes, 1/2 oatmeal cake, 1 regular size reese cup. She drank 1 can of tomato juice, water and coffee.
We are straight cathing her 3X a day and she is doing fine with that, not carrying the bag of gold anymore. She's awake alot during the day so hopefully she will sleep good tonight. Anything ya'll want to know, feel free to ask. Not saying you'll get an answer, but you can still ask =)

I hate to hear about Homer. I gotta tell one on Mommy. Today, we noticed Mommy's Catapress Patch was missing off of her leg. I checked everywhere to see if I could find it. I checked the bed, her depends, the trash....then when we went in to empty her bladder, Teresa happened to look down on the bookshelf that I push up against the bed at night to keep her from rolling out and noticed the baby doll that was on the top. Mommy's patch was right on the front of the baby doll that Bobbie had bought for Mommy! She had taken it off of her leg and put it on the baby. I know she did it during the night bc I could hear her figiting with the shelf. We laughed and she did too. So now it is on her back! I will check the baby every morning. She ate really good this evening and said she was ready for bed at 7:30. She took her meds really well. Not crushing them now. She will be getting occupational therapy and they will help her with her eating. She is going to let them know real quick like, that she don't need their help, She will do it HER way. She just looks at them and snickers. It is so funny. Talk to ya'll later.
Seems that I jumped the gun abit, Mommy did void but did not empty her bladder. She still has to be straight cathed. The good thing about that is that she is drinking more than we thought b/c she was retaining quite abit. Nonetheless, we are still believing she will improve on all counts Because like Mommy is always saying, With God all things are possible, (and this evening she added) to them that believe. She quoted that one to the Physical Therapist Marty, and he quoted one back to her. They seem to all be Christians!
Also, Teresa fixed her some Meat Loaf, baked beans, and cauliflower for supper and she licked the plate clean. Teresa was going to fix her more but she said she was full. She got a call from someone she went to church with, Evelyn Simmons, and she talked to her on the phone. She and her husband came to see Daddy, and brought food before he died.
Somedays are good and some are not so good, but we are still plugging along. Ya'll pray and we'll do the care. I thank God for Teresa, she is truely a God Send.

Another Praise Report!
Teresa and I are happy to report that Mommy VOIDED on her own!!! Her bowels are moving also and that is always a problem, as you know. She won't drink much but we are still trying constantly. Ya'll keep praying and believing that she will NOT stop improving!! Check in later.
Hallalugah!
Honey, you better save some of that meatloaf or plan on making another one! Yaw are making me hungry. I'm on a plane waiting for take off in Charolette. Glad to hear Mom is doing well. Love everybody. See you soon.

Good Evening from Backus~ We have had a full day but Mommy is improving so much, if you saw her at the hospital, and see her now, you wouldn't believe it. Her Physical Therapist and her Nurse from Fayette Co. came today and we like them both. Her nurse is from Meadow Bridge and is close. She said if we ever need her, we can just call and she can come up. Her name is Missy (Tincher) Maehr. We removed her Foley and are going to straight Cath her which means empty her bladder 3X a day. However, we may reinsert the Foley and try to retrain her bladder. She is improving so well, it just might work.
Bobbie, she is no longer on Pureed food, she was eating spaghetti in the pictures, with Meatballs. Today, Teresa made Meat Loaf and Mommy was sitting in the kitchen with us while we cooked. I think the smell stimulated her taste buds b/c she ate Meat Loaf, cauliflower with cheese, mashed potatoes, and baked beans. She fed herself! She uses her hands some, but as long as she eats, we are thrilled. She is drinking from a straw and taking the pills as good as she took them before the stroke. Her BP is staying around 130/80 on average. She talks mostly in the evening and laughs all the time. It's like she doesn't get woke up good until Noon. She enjoys the company she's getting now.
Besides Physical Therapy, she will be getting speech therapy, occupational therapy, and of course, her regular visits from the nurse. She will be back tomorrow and then again on Thursday. They call her Mrs. Vivian. Gonna turn in, I'm beat.

Mommy slept good last night and tried to feed herself yogurt this am, but needed a little help, however, she took her pills (all of them) without being crushed. They went right down. That's another hurdle. I don't think she would be doing as well if it wasn't for the extra help that Teresa is giving. One of us is constantly working with her. Teresa has 8 years experience working with physically and mentally challenged kids and she is great with Mommy. Mommy is talking alittle more and we are waiting on her home health nurse to come now. Will talk to you more later.
Yes, Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
What wonderful news! Is she still eating a soft diet? No pureed anymore? She looks so good too! You are right Janet. It is that good food, great nurses, country mountain air and serving her mighty God! "With God, All Things Are Possible" is her scripture for the day, everyday! I love you Mom! Keep mindin' those nurses now!
While you are saying a prayer for Steve's travel to Alabama, remember Adam also. He's traveling to Panama City, Florida on Thursday with a friend.

Praise Report
Teresa and I have a Praise Report! If a picture is worth a thousand words.....I was feeding her, bc she has been unable to feed herself, having trouble swallowing and sipping through a straw...when she reached up and took the plate and spoon out of my hand!! Blain, Teresa and I just dropped our jaw and let her have at it. I grabbed my camera and just watched her eat. Afterwards, she ate a bite of snowball cake by herself. We are seeing little improvements everyday. Ya'll keep prayin' for us all. Teresa is staying with me until Mommy gets well enough for one of us to handle. The lifting is the only part that requires 2. She can't get up by herself and she walks sooo good with two assisting. Just wanted to thank the Lord!
My Father's Hands
My Father's Hands
From birth till death,
We do not know, our destiny is at list,
Knowledge increased with memories past,
We glean from to do our best.
As years increase as so with time,
Our memories increase still,
More gleaning of the time's we've shared
With loved ones at their best.
My Father's hands upon his Steel,
Making melodies for the soul,
A memory I will always cherish,
No mystery there to unfold.
My Father's hands, usually busy at work,
When time allowed, would play,
And stroke the notes, in timely form,
A beautiful ending to the day.
And as the years did swiftly pass,
With that, I was allowed to join,
And make the music my Father played,
Welcoming those present, to join.
It thrilled his soul and depths beyond,
To have in his hands, the strings,
To him, the notes that were always true,
Relieved the stress of things.
When I feel bound with life's demands,
I long to hear the strands,
The melodies flowing from the strings,
Caressed by Father's hands.
It seemed to me, that time stood still,
As Dad's hands would pluck the notes,
His smile would convey, his hearts content,
Ever so pleasant to participating folk.
As I now play and often reflect,
I have only to shut my eyes,
The notes I hear and share with ease,
A result of Father's hands.
A priceless gift, he did impart,
He shared it from his soul,
The same I share with his content,
Benefits beyond.....being told.
For as I look at my own hands,
I see my Father's still,
His hands live on, through mine you see,
His music, ever present, my will.

From birth till death,
We do not know, our destiny is at list,
Knowledge increased with memories past,
We glean from to do our best.
As years increase as so with time,
Our memories increase still,
More gleaning of the time's we've shared
With loved ones at their best.
My Father's hands upon his Steel,
Making melodies for the soul,
A memory I will always cherish,
No mystery there to unfold.
My Father's hands, usually busy at work,
When time allowed, would play,
And stroke the notes, in timely form,
A beautiful ending to the day.
And as the years did swiftly pass,
With that, I was allowed to join,
And make the music my Father played,
Welcoming those present, to join.
It thrilled his soul and depths beyond,
To have in his hands, the strings,
To him, the notes that were always true,
Relieved the stress of things.
When I feel bound with life's demands,
I long to hear the strands,
The melodies flowing from the strings,
Caressed by Father's hands.
It seemed to me, that time stood still,
As Dad's hands would pluck the notes,
His smile would convey, his hearts content,

Dad, in Heaven, Happy Father's Day!
Dad
When I was but a little child,
Without a worldly clue,
I used to follow, under foot,
Always wanting more of you.
Busy about as you would be,
You rarely slowed your pace,
Your words were few, your work intense,
Seemed always in a race.
Words of wisdom, that you shared,
While few and timely at best,
Of childhood times, spent with your father,
Life lessons, you would attest.
Topics I remember, even still as only a lad,
On how to hit a rock, to bust,
Or how to split a block,
With minimal work or thrust.
You shared with me about fishing,
and hunting, for the lot,
Critters both the large and small,
Their habits and what-not.
To be productive in wood and field,
to understand your day,
That God would provide to those who Labor,
He always makes a way.
It is of those times I ponder most,
Now a Dad and father too,
More often now....As I reflect,
Dad......My thoughts are filled with you!
Happy Father's Day in Heaven.....I LOVE YOU!
When I was but a little child,
Without a worldly clue,
I used to follow, under foot,
Always wanting more of you.

Yellow roses grow in heaven, Lord pick a bunch for me. Place them in my father's arms and tell him they're from me.Tell him that I love and miss him. When he turns to smile place a kiss upon his cheek and hold him for awhile, because remembering himis easy, I do it every day. There's an ache in my heart ............thatwill never go away
