Hey everybody,
a broken foot wasn't enough for Jacob...he had to have his appendix taken out! A couple days ago he fell down a stop and tore a ligament and has to wear and air cast and crutches. Today his stomach was hurting and he couldn't keep anything down so they took him to the ER this evening. Acute appendicitis...he is out of surgery now and doing well.
Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to everyone!!! Congratulations Steve on you job and the move. I'm sure that you and Teresa are happy that you're closer to each other now and you're not having to travel all over the East Coast. These last couple days of heat have me reminiscing of the blizzards and ice storms from the winter :P How I would love to go sleigh riding right now!!

Too cute Clara! That boy has only begun to wear her out:) Advice to Clara from Emily & Olivia!

Happy Birthday Wishes to several family members this coming week... Olivia, Emily, Nana, & Timmy that I can think of right off, but I am missing someone...yes?

Love you all!
To clarify Amy's blog post of Thursday: She is NOT going to West Virginia THIS weekend; she is going NEXT weekend.
Awww...Amy he is so beautiful! Upon closer view of him, I don't think he looks like Clara much at all!
Amy, the pictures of Brooks and Clara are just beautiful,Poor Clara looks like she has had a hard Day, Her little Brother wore her out.LOL.
Bobbie we haven't heard from you in a while ,hope everything is ok,Are your little one's keeping you busy?Everything here is same as usual, boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brooks with a Mohawk!

The Benadryl didn't phase her. Will have to try something else. But of course, she's sound asleep after I got her up to her chair!

Clara was too tuckered out to make it through lunch...

Amy~Friday and/or Saturday is fine. Mommy is having trouble sleeping at night and then she is so tired in the day. We are going to try giving her Benadryl at night to see how she sleeps, but as of right now, I gave her Benadryl at 7 and she is still awake. May not work.
Well, we have been home from the hospital since Saturday. Things are finally starting to settle into our new version of normal. Brooks is doing pretty well. He lost a pound since he was born so now he is only 6 1/2 pounds and seems so small. We are working to get his weight up which requires feedings every 2 hours 24 hours a day - talk about exhausting!!

Clara is adapting really well. She is too young to be jealous of the baby, plus now she has both her mommy and her daddy home with her so she is still getting plenty of attention. Today she and I had mommy/daughter story time at the library and she had a blast with the other kids.

We are going to head down to WV this weekend to introduce Brooks to Great Grandma - s0 Rita, let me know if we could stop by Friday or Saturday at some point (or both)!

Given how many ways Trish has found to make blogging easy, I am going to try to be better at blogging while I am on leave.
The dream was nothing major, just an ordinary day. Mommy sleeping on the couch while daddy sat at his desk. It was nice.
Morning All from KY, It's good to hear that mom is doing better this morning, Thank you Lord.
Tell us the dream you had Trish, I like the new picture on the blog. Thanks again Rita for the updates on mom.

Love the background

Hey Trish,
What a blessing you are to the family......helping us keep connected via the blog! David will absolutely love the background! He will see it later today and respond tonight I am sure. He will be out of town part of today on business.
Rita, I hope you and Treasa (Spelling ?), are well and rested one at a time. Remember your own needs from time to time. It is hard for Caregivers to find downtime. I will pray for Helen's daughters this very day and often. If I had their address, I would send them cards from time to time. I could explain I am David's wife since I do not know them.
If any of you try the Beef Brocolli dish, serve it with rice...and maybe some won ton, it is delicious.
Emily, do you cook using the Crock Pot often? If so, I will try to send you some recipes.
Love to all of you today. May the Lord cause His face to shine upon you, May His Presence be sweet to you giving refreshment to your spirits is my prayer.
I love you,
Julie
Good Morning,
You will notice a few different things on the blog. First, the background! DAvid that is for you!
Then at the bottom of each post it will give you the option to share that post through email, twitter, facebook or another blog. Especially useful for pictures you may want to share.
Then last but not least! I had a dream about Daddy the other night, first since he died. So I changed the header picture.

Good Morning~
Mommy slept better last night than she has slept in awhile. She went to bed at 8:30 and did't wake up until 3:30 to go pee. Then she slept until after 7 this morning. She took her meds and ate yogurt and pureed fruit this morning without any problems. She also talked more this morning. I told her we'd better go to the bathroom and she said, "Yeah, we'd better." We will have to feed her small amounts at a time b/c she gets so tired and then she can't think enough to swallow. Her BP this morning is 122/67, pulse 72. She is napping now.

Good Evening from Backus Mt
Mommy hasn't slept much and has eaten even less. This evening we noticed that when she swallows, it is just her gag reflex, her tongue doesn't go to the roof of her mouth, pushing the food down. It just lays there. She was like that after her big stroke. Ya'll pray that it will improve, allowing her to eat! She hasn't talked today either. She said a few words this morning and then nothing. She was laughing, however, when she went to bed. She always laughs at night! I had to run and get groceries today and I ran into Mommy's niece, Helen Wingo's daughter. She said that she and her sister Brenda are keeping Helen and it is so hard. She has become somewhat combative and she hurts herself in the process. They had to take her to the hospital to have her heart checked out and they took pictures of all her bruises and scrapes. She said Helen told them that her girls were mean to her!!! Now, I know they aren't, so they really need prayer. Linda is not well, she has diabetes really bad and it is really taking a toll on her. Pray for them all.
Teresa is becoming quite the domestic engineer! I got boiling water and ice water to skin the peaches for her cobbler (her second one) and she said she would "shuck" the peaches. Hey, if she wants to shuck them, it's fine by me:)
I'll talk to ya'll tomorrow.
The kids are tanner , Kelsey , Adam , Corey , Emily , addy, becca, Trina , and Andy !
Thank you Rita for all the updates even it the midst of your busy schedule. We rejoice with you over the news of Vivian.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all the Caregivers of your Mom.
Who are all the kids in the opening picture/swingset?
Love you!
Julie
Yes, Praise the Lord. Our Prayers are with you there on the Mt. The pictures of the kids fishing are great, looks like you had a good time also Grandpa , are you having fish for dinner or is it a catch and release.
Praise the Lord , God is Good, He will take care of His Own.
Mommy just ate a yogurt and took her meds without a problem. She is up in the chair watching Andy and Barney! Her BP was 145/72 just now and she seems to be back to her old self. Praise The Lord!!

Mommy Update

Mommy is up in the chair now. When I went to get her out of bed, she was turned toward the wall where the picture of "her and Jesus" hangs. She was looking at it and I asked her who that was. She said "Daddy". She hasn't mentioned him for along time. She has talked to me and she is able to swallow. Not sure how good yet. Will post more as I know more.
Mornin' All~
Mommy had (what appeared to be) another mini stroke this morning. It was at 6:00 when I got her up to the bathroom. It wasn't like the last episode that presented as a seizure, but she was unresponsive for several minutes. Her BP was 123/56 which is pretty normal for her. We have stopped all her BP meds because her BP was going too low and staying there. It hasn't spiked since we stopped the Diovan Sunday night. She is sleeping now and we will post more as we see how she's doing.

Steve~ Yaye! I think MAYBE Teresa misses you...just a little:)
Alice- praying for you
Who is this chick on here names Michelle? I thought David's daughters name was Sissy. You laugh, but I really did until I was about 15 and grandma told me her real name. Good to see you guys on here:) Miss ya

Mom & Dad (cause we know that dad is bloggin') The kids had so much fun fishin'. I was informed that fish don't eat worms, birds do. Fish eat fish food. Why didn't I think of that?

I was excited today to hear grandma say that "I just might" when I asked her if she was going to sneak some of Teresa's FABULOUS peach cobbler. It was really good- Teresa:)

Amy & Greg~ Getting any sleep these days? How is Clara handling her baby brother? Post plenty of pics.

Love you all:)
Julie and David, Thanks for asking about my health. I am still doing fine- at the moment. I am being very careful to watch my diet. My surgery is scheduled for 2 weeks from tomorrow. I appreciate your prayers.

Hey, I'm actually getting pretty good at cooking! I made pork chops in the crock pot the other night and it was sooo good...fell apart on the fork. I also made homemade rolls from scratch for the first time. They looked kinda weird but they tasted really good!

We fried up some squash + cornmeal tonight and I ate one of the peaches from the market...it was all so good! I guess I know where I get my taste for squash from!

Fishin' at Nana and Papaw's

Olivia caught mostly bass and Kaiden caught mostly bluegills.

Rita, I am so glad mommy ate good for you , even if she did eat all of your squash, Blain's mom sent you , LOL Glad her b/p is staying down too.
Emily your picture's of your veggie's is good, just like out of a book.
Monica, and Bobbie those pictures of Marleigh are just adorable of her eating her jar food for the first time, she must have been taking lessons from mommy, when you all gave her stuff and she didn't like it, Think maybe!!!!!!!!

Emily I love your farmers market picture.
Hey Ya'll
Just checkin' in. Thanks for the recipe Michelle. I'll try it sometime. Mommy's BP is stayin' down without the extra Diovan. She is more alert. Blain's Mom brought me some squash yesterday so I cooked 2 small ones, pureed them and Mommy ate it all!! I loaded it down with some good ole butter, salt and pepper. She can chew, but it seems like she gets tired of chewing and then doesn't eat all she needs to. After she eats her main meal, then about an hour later, we can give her something that needs chewing and she can eat what she wants and then we don't have to worry that she didn't get enough to eat. I bought her some popsicles filled with fruit and she really likes those. I took Trish's advice and tried the baby food. She ate a jar yesterday and seemed to like it. And she still likes Little Debbie cakes as long as they are the soft kind. Still not crazy about drinking anything except water, but then that was always her favorite drink.
Mommy had some company the past few days. Addy came up on Friday and helped me when Teresa left for the weekend, Pastor Butch and his wife, Judy came up Friday evening. Bobbie came up yesterday and spent the day, and Trish, Danny, Tanner and Jacob came by in the evening.

Good morning Mommy. Hope you are feeling better today. Rita, Theresa, how are you too holding up? We had a real scorcher yesterday with maybe more of the same in store today. Joe, how is Alice? We are praying for her every day. Thank you Michelle for the recipe. I have attached it here for everyone else who wants to try it.
I couldn't go back to sleep this morning after Zac left for work so I decided to check out the Farmer's/Flea Market down the road. I got 4 peaches, 4 apples, 4 ears of corn, a dozen eggs, a bunch of new/red potatoes, a big squash and a big cucumber all for $5.50. It was so cool! I might post some pictures later...having brown eggs reminds me of Grandma Vivian's. She always had little brown eggs from the Ballangees.
