Oh My Goodness! Yes, It is 2 weeks...that makes it a whole lot easier. The slide looks wonderful and look how far they could stretch it to go down below the driveway in the field. I know , with all the ingenuity in this family, someone or ones, could make this happen...I mean, we use to sleigh ride on car hoods!!
~Rita~
I was thinking if any of the guys have some stuff lying around their house (not intended for any use :) to make a slide that would be such fun for the little kids. Marleigh loved riding this last year. I'm not sure what it's made out of but the slide is some kind of plastic something. The part the kids sit on is cut out of the small white plastic keg looking barrels. I've seen them on farms before, I'm guessing to keep water in for cows or pigs maybe??? Anywho...they cut two hole in one end and tied a rope for the kids to hold onto. Of course the top of the slide is built up by hay bails. Or maybe the guys could come up with another plan to make a slide out of other material?? I don't want anyone to have to buy anything for this, I was just thinking if the materials were lying around somewhere we could put one together :) Let me know what you fellers' think :)
I was thinking we have 2 weeks from today instead of one? Is that right? This is going to be for September 1st and 2nd? I know we will have to have everything in order before then but I need to know when to arrive :) If it is the 1st and 2nd then we will be there :) I'll ask Mark about being in charge of the Corn Hole tournament, I'm sure he will oblige lol. I will probably be chasing Marleigh around so I won't have much time for that. I'm definitely up for the apple butter. I've never done it before but it looks fun and is such wonderful greeting to the fall of the year. I'll be thinking about what we can bring (food wise) on both days and get back to you. Love to all :)
Labor Day
Hey all
I am going to be the mouth for our Labor Day get together. Keep your comments to yourself. You know Teresa ain't bossy enough! First of all, we need to know who will be coming. It is going to be a 2 day event. We will be making Applebutter (for the young and old alike) over the weekend, outside. Teresa says they have apples so we will be peeling on Saturday (bring your sharpest knife) and cooking on Sunday. As of right now, I will furnish the supplies (Sugar, cinnamon candy, vinegar, cloves, jars, and lids) and we will price the jars when we are finished, to cover the cost of the supplies only. Paul, we will be needing your kettle! We are in the beginning stages of planning...and yes, we are off to a late start, but we can still "git 'er done"! We are hoping to have Nachos on Saturday, desserts (if you provide them) and a Weiner Roast and S'mores on Saturday evening. We would like to have a Cornhole Tournament, with a Trophy to be awarded. Monica and Mark...if you are coming, we would like to put you in charge of that. If not, we'll designate another vict...I mean lucky person. We are hoping to have Redneck Horseshoes (Addy), maybe a hayride, pumpkin carving...and anything else you nieces and nephews can come up with. Like I said, we are in the early stages of planning but if you want to have a good time, then we need you to help. It will be what we make it. We will be having a Treadway style dinner (bring your favorite dish) on Sunday (time to be decided later) so we will need to know before hand what you are bringing so if we need to make something else, we will have time. We're thinkin' that maybe our main dish will be Fried Chicken from the Dawson Store or Walmart...if anyone would like to purchase some or all of it, it would save you from cooking. Now you can't all do that. I knew what you were thinkin'! Teresa is inviting some of her neighbors so that would give you a chance to visit with them, as well.
As the time gets closer, we hope to post an agenda with approximate times. Ruth, will you compile a list of the food like you did before, from everyone's posting. We only have one week from today!!! If you read the blog and your family doesn't, will you please pass this information along to them. Thanks and look forward to seeing the blog come alive! For those of you who can't come, we will try our best to share as much as we can on the blog!

Clayton and danny I imagine are having a grand time! Along with all of the others there waiting on him. Clayton just went to sleep. No apparent pain. I was there on Wednesday night and he wanted to sing hymns so we gathered around and sang what our memory would allow and in most cases his memory was better than ours. For those that don't remember Clayton, he is Emma's great granddad, Danny's great uncle. He was an awesome man.

vacation
We found out why the amish don't like their picture taken. It would be bad for business if it got out that they drove 2013 mini vans and traded in the horses for John deere tractors. Lol.

Addy had made the rolls for supper and Paul just took a couple and entered them in his name. If you enter anything in the fair, say, a pint of canned green beans, then you get a free gate pass for a day at the fair. I don't know what it costs but somewhere around $8 I think. Addy and Paul are both working at the fair. Paul is working at Belts Pizza, (putting the pepperoni on the pizza) and Addy is working at the Strawberry Shortcake trailer, making lemonade. They get free passes at the fair everyday, and get to eat at 5 different trailers for free, in addition to their pay. Their employer doesn't know that he is going to go in the hole! He doesn't know Paul like I do. LOL

Addy's Rolls
Addy just called and said that Paul's rolls, that Addy made the other night for supper, won first place at the State Fair. Last year, she entered them, worked with them, sweated over them, (put her name on them) etc and they didn't win anything. That's just too funny.

It's Okay to Quit
Someone brought this to me at Bible Study this morning:
1. Quit arguing with people about the same old foolishness! Respect their position and keep moving!
2. Quit telling people your secrets when you know they are not going to keep them! And if you keep telling them, then quit getting mad when they tell your secrets!
3. Quit trying to pull people on your journey who don't want to travel with you. Either they believe in you and value you or they don't!
4. Quit complaining about things you CAN'T and WON'T change!
5. Quit gossiping about other people! Minding our own business should be a full-time job!
6. Quit blaming each other for things that aren't going to matter three weeks from now! Talk solutions and then implement them!
7. Quit eating things you know are not good for you! If you can't quit, eat smaller portions!
8. Quit buying things when we know we can't afford them! If you don't have self-control, then quit going to stores! Quit charging things, especially when you don't NEED them!
9. Quit letting family members or friends rope you into the drama! Start telling them you don't want to hear it! Quit spreading the drama! Quit calling others and telling them about your cousin or aunt or friend! Refer to No. 5.
10. Quit trying to change people! IT DOESN'T WORK! Quit cussing people out when you know that they are just being the miserable and jealous people that they are!
11. Quit the job you hate! Start pursuing your passion. Find the job that fuels your passion BEFORE you quit!
12. Quit volunteering for things that you aren't getting any personal fulfillment from anymore! Quit volunteering for things and then failing to follow through with your commitment!
13. Quit listening to the naysayers! Quit watching the depressing news if you are going to live in the doom and gloom of it all!
14. Quit making excuses about why you are where you are or why you can't do what you want to do!
15. Quit waiting on others to give you the answers and start finding the answers for yourself! If what you are doing isn't working for you, then quit it!
16. Quit settling and start making your dreams a reality! Quit being afraid and START LIVING YOUR LIFE! CREATE THE LIFE YOU WANT!

Danny is -On the Other Side waiting for us all
I can't imagine losing the one you love and not knowing they are going to Heaven. That has been the only comfort in losing him is knowing that one day we are going to be with him. If you haven't made you peace God, that is what Danny would want you all to do!
Today my best friend and first and only love died. He has suffered so much in the last 15 months to Sarcoma-a very rare and nasty cancer. He complained of pain but never once did he question God why him. I did...but he would tell me, God has a plan. I can't begin to thank you all for the many prayers and kind words. He has told me this week that he was tired and ready to go home, that he loved life but it was time. Today he was in so much pain and his last words to me were I am ready to go home, I'm done, I can't do this anymore. Thankful to God he heard his cries and our prayers and took him today. It is such a comfort to know that we will one day be reunited. There are so many that have helped us during this last year that I couldn't begin to name. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart and know that You helped in some way to make his last days more pleasant and easier to bear. I have to thank Shawn Johnson for making sure his pain never consumed him and for always being there when I called. And thanks to Tina Midkiff for making his last hours bearable. Danny was truly blessed with friends and family and loved you all.

Danny is almost done with his battle here. Tanner is here with me and emily is on he way home from Morgantown. Home health came this morning and started a morphine pump. He is in a hospital bed in the living room and appears to be in no pain. He woke up long enough to tell me and tanner he was done and couldn't do this anymore and wanted to go home. You guys can send up prayers to see that happens. Feel free to stop by anytime.
Love you guys
