We went to visit Lonnie yesterday...he seemed to be feeling pretty good except when he laughed or coughed.

Checking in from Florida
Lonnie,
Good to hear that you are doing so well. I always figured you were the tough one in the family and this accident confirms it. Most people with as many broken bones as you have would be complaining non-stop but I hear that isn't the case. Take care of yourself, take the Doctors' and Nurses' advice, even if it means staying down an extra day, you don't need any setbacks or infections to set in. Now that we are "on-line" we'll send a note now and then. We're praying for you.

Lonnie is doing better today. He is in no pain now except from his broken ribs. He has drains from the lt arm and rt leg. They are to releave swelling so his arm and leg can heal. He will probable get home Monday or Tuesday if all goes well. The doctors are telling him to keep in good spirits it will help. They are all amased at his attitude.
Marleigh had her 1 month dr appt yesterday. She has gained a 1/2 lb and has grown 1 inch putting her at 9 lbs 21 inches. Everything checked out great with her :) She did get a shot and I have never heard her scream and cry like that yet. I didn't cry but it did bring tears to my eyes. After a few minutes though she calmed down and was fine, thank goodness. She spent the night with mom and dad again last night and a good time was had by all.

A Poem Writtten By Sandy Evans
Mine Disaster at Massey Energy’s Upper Big Branch Mine in Raleigh County, W.Va.This Monday has drawn to an end for me...
With black, dust clouds around me...a light I now see.
From fear to peace..I feel the transition:
From a dirty, old coal mine...to a beautiful mansion. I’m sorry I leave you to grieve me this way;
But I wouldn’t come back to these mines one more day.
The tasks left undone you now must complete
I’m resting today at my dear Savior’s feet. And don’t weep too long...Go on live your lives.
This to my family...the children and wife...
I will see you again...in the sweet bye and bye;..
Where coal dust will never again dim my eyes. So pack away the bucket, the light and the hat.
I have everlasting life...Won’t need all of that.
And someday when God’s ready...he’ll call you to the fold...
I’ll wait for you by the river, on the streets of pure gold. Massey Employees 2010- “I Once Was Lost...But now, I’m Found...” Amazing Grace....

Lonnie is back in his room from surgery, he said this surgery was harder than the last. They did a lot more to him this time. The plastic surgeon said the wound looked good so he did the muscle graft and the skin graft. He was pleased with surgery. The plastic surgeon said if he felt like he could get in a chair he would be allowed. Lonnie said he doubts he would be getting up anytime soon. His arm was set with a plate to make sure it is more stable due to he will be using it for assistance getting in and out of bed. Lonnie said he felt like he was just thrown out of a plane. His friends has come down and he is up in the bed talking to them, he seems better now, just drowsy. Like always he is barking orders, now with a smile most of the time. He has been very polite to all the doctors and nurses, he jokes with all them. He said if he is nice they will do more for him and he is right. They all joke with him too. Even coming out of surgery he was joking with everyone. He is full of it. I will let you know.
Lonnie came through surgery with flying colors. They were able to close the leg wound with skin from his thigh and he is expected to get up by monday.

Lonnie,
You are quite a popular guy. Once I put on there that we were praying for you, people from all over were saying that they know you and that their prayers were with you. One specifically wanted me to tell you that she is praying and that she hopes you are doing well...Crystal Wykle. She went to school with me. She said you were a sweetheart (then, i asked her if we were talking about the same guy.) Just kidding:) She said you did their septic on Loops.
Kaiden is counting on that Escavator. He wants to go to uncle Lonnie's instead of Nana's when I go back to work.
Olivia wants to know if Uncle Lonnie has to have shots. She said to tell you that it doesn't hurt. If only she knew, right?
Anyway, we love you and hope you are feeling better soon. I was thinking that now would be the ideal time for you to start blogging!

Lonnie is doing well. He has been giving his nurses a hard time. He really likes all his doctors. My cousin said he has some really good doctors. They will attempt to do a muscle flap graft and a skin graft tomorrow. The doctor told him that if the wound doesn't look like it will take due to it isn't healing well or it is too dirty they will just clean the wound and wait 2 days and try it again. Say a special prayer that all is well tomorrow, and it heals well. He keeps saying he hopes all goes well tomorrow. They told us he will be bed confined for 4-5 days after the graft to help ensure it heals well. The surgery will be at 730am tomorrow. He was told he had 3 broken ribs today. We had already suspected this due to he was having alot of pain when he coughed. The x ray confirmed this today. He really appreciates everyone checking on him. Ruth, he appreciates the gift basket but now he is concerned he will get fat. Tell Kaiden, Lonnie will be getting a new excavator for him to ride in. We were told tonight that the Greyrock driver who went into his lane had been driving only 3 days for them. My understanding was he was young. Lonnie is DICTATING ORDERS,so he is better. Lonnie said to tell everyone it was a large gravel dump truck, and he was driving 55 miles/ hr , we think the other driver may have been going a little faster. Ok, wish him well and pray for the best.
Memorial Bibles
The memorial bible count for dad is now 28, which would put the number of people that they could possible reach at 72,800. What a wonderful thought

Lonnie just got out of surgery, the doctor said he did well. His lt. hip was fractured but will heal without repair. They repaired his rt. lower leg, they said his leg was left open with a wound vac applied so it could heal and remove any bacteria which may be present. He also has had plate and pins put in his leg. They said they had to remove small bone fragments from his leg. They said he may need plastic surgery later to close the wound if it doesn't heal . He will probably just have a bad scare. He also broke his lt great toe and his lt forearm. They said his arm will have to be repaired later this week. I will keep you updated.

This is Cindy. We wanted to share the number to ICU to check on Dad. It is 1-304-388-3790 and the pin is 100105277. He is awaiting for surgery to be scheduled on his leg and they finally removed the neck brace this morning. Marcia said he rested well as can be expected last night.
Continue praying for him and the nurses having to work with him:) He is pretty much his usual self, so this is good.

I am sure by now anyone thAt reads the blog knows about lonnies accident. No one else was hurt and he is in icu in charleston but apparently due to the mining accident theY aren't letting many folks in. Ariel says he is more worried about his truck than anything so that's a good sign. Steve said he looked pretty rough but he only got a five minute look and they run him out. Mommy has faired well through it all. She shouted and got happy a couple times and was amazed that when I put it on facebook the people that responded that were praying or saw it happen or dialed 911. She was just amazed. So I read her all the posts and prayers and where people were from it kept I'd quite busy. She didn't lose any weight it just stayed the same. Her blood pressure was sky high but that was understandable. So we are hoping for a less eventful day tomorrow!

Good Morning to all,
We have had a blessed Easter already. Mommy, Danny's mom Helen, and I went to sunrise service. She said she had never been to one "there". It is at the Wallace and Wallace Mausoleum. Kind of weird singing with all those bodies around but you get used to it. Anyway, she had a really good time. We even got a biscuit from McDonald's afterwards. They always feed us too! Helen and I were walking her and we both had her arms but she stumbled and managed to fall. Everyone came running of course, but I reassured them, My Mama knows how to fall. And she did it so graceful. Didn't even skin up her knees. After we came home I checked her BP and it was 120/70. She ate her sausage biscuit, a whole cup of yogurt, a cup of water with her medicine and 2 cups of tea. I told her I was taking her to sunrise EVERY morning. She is asleep on the couch til church time. I couldn't sleep last night and this poem popped in my head! Just a taste of Mommy's routine, but it pretty much says it all.
Mommys Day
She slides out of bed to start her day, but glimpses in the mirror first on her way.
The look on her face is priceless, as she sees herself, “Boy, that hair is a mess”
On with the morning chores of getting out of bed, first with the eyeballs and then with the teeth, or just to spice things up, we do it opposite instead.
Oh so chilly, as she grabs her slippers and duster, now she is ready, “Its breakfast time, Buster!”
Maybe just yogurt, toast and tea, but it’s the time of the day she likes best you see.
After getting ten children off to school every day, that internal clock refuses to lay
Sometimes it’s five-thirty, but definitely no later than seven, well good grief its daylight, and just listen at those birdies.
Calling my name, the birds sing “chirp chirp,” as I head to my rocker, we start the day the same.
Monotonous some may say, not me, it’s a routine and I like it that way.
After breakfast it’s time for a nap, “well I did get up early you know; I bet most of you can’t say that!”
Time for some chores, folding clothes or hanging them out, “I love doing laundry it’s never a bore”
Some days are unique, as there are kids to play with, maybe roll a ball or just hide and seek.
By now its lunch time, could be anything you see, as my daughters are “good cookers” just like me!
The afternoon is filled with outdoors or in, enjoying the company, doing devotions and looking at pictures of where I’ve been.
The road has been long, and yes, sometimes hard. But God put me here and isn’t finished; to want to leave would just be wrong.
Almost time for bed, you see I turn in early, take off the eyeballs, the teeth, one more look at that head!
As I lay on my pillow, I think “Will this be the night, I dream of my husband, my best friend, my lover?”
Then I drift off to sleep, and see him in Heaven, Smiling at me as if to say, “I’m waiting but no hurry, this will surely keep!”
“We will have eternity after you get here, enjoy your time on earth with the babies, you love so dear.”
Before she knows it, it’s that internal clock, but just for this morning, let’s turn on the snooze, why not?
