Marleigh fished for the first time today!! Corey baited her line and as soon as he cast it in she had a bite. Of course he reeled it in for her. It was a little stinker but we were excited. She wouldn't touch the fish but we got her to hold the line for the pic :) We had dad's family reunion and it was a beautiful day for it. The clouds rolled in around 4ish and it started to rain and it brought a wonderful breeze with it. There was cornholin' going on as well lol :)
Hi Trish and Danny, We are so glad to hear that you are back home. There is nothing like home. We are praying for the needs that you mentioned, strength, appetite and being able to sleep. I know we serve a God who can meet every one of those needs. We love you and just to let you know there's a lot of people here praying for you.
On Wednesday, the 4th, we had a parade in town. It was already getting hot that morning but we found a big tree to stand under and keep cool :) From what I understand Rita, Ruth and Addy have been getting rain!!! Praise the Lord!!! Marleigh is praying for Doris, let us know :) We came up and had a wonderful visit with Danny and Trish Thursday morning. We went on 219. I don't remember ever going that way before but it was pretty scenery. I noticed that a lot of the barns had pictures on the front of them above the barn doors. One looked like a quilt and others were just different designs. Does anyone know what the deal is with that? It was neat, I've just never seen it anywhere else before. On the okra, I've only eaten it fried as well. I think it was rolled in cornmeal maybe. That's how Ryan's does it lol. Matthew, did you say that was your favorite place? LOL!!
Backing up a bit.....When the first storm hit we were at work. I was working in a room that had a pass through window in it and was on the exterior of the building. It was just about 9 pm and I was right beside the window when my gate started blowing with the wind. As soon as I saw it I heard this very loud noise that sounded like a train. Mom has told me and I've seen on tv that people say tornadoes sound like a train. When it hit me that I had never heard a train at work and we didn't have any train tracks nearby I instantly began to feel sick at my stomach because I just knew there was a tornado outside (Praise the Lord I was wrong!!). However, as soon as I began to feel sick I immediately started praying and looking for something to get under or hold onto should the need arise (the sounds coming from the roof weren't comforting :(). The sound lasted maybe a few minutes then went away but the wind stayed around for quite some time. Of course we have all heard of the damage and devastation that came with this storm. We were fortunate to not loose power but it did flicker on and off that night. The second storm was not near as bad. The wind was pretty high again, there was some wicked lightning and we got about 2 hours worth of rain from it :) I think mom has already said that we weren't able to have church for a week. I'm happy to see most everyone has their power back. Rita, have you gotten yours yet?

We got home last night around7. He is breathing better but is still really weak and stays so tired. Eating very little just nibbling around. He rested better being home and in his recliner but just can't sleep. They have given him so much pain meds that he is still in a brain fog and he is trying to get that cleared up. Continue to remember him in your prayers!

Cookin' Okra
The only way that I have eaten okra is the way they cook it in the South: sliced in circles, dipped in batter and deep-fried.

Hey everybody! I wasn't sure how my potatoes were going to do after the storm blew all my vines down so I dug a little vine this evening and to my surprise, I'm going to have a few potatoes after all! And I'm going to have bukus? Bookoos? Of squash! You get the picture! I know for you seasoned gardeners this probably seems pretty small, but this is the first thing I've gotten this year and I'm so excited! My first garden didn't do so well. Thank you Lord for your blessings on me!

How hot is it?
IT'S SO HOT in OHIO that------.....the birds have to use potholders to pull the worms out of the ground......the trees are whistling for the dogs......the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.....hot water comes from both taps......you can make sun tea instantly......you learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron......the temperature drops below 90 F and you feel a little chilly......you discover that in July it only takes two fingers to steer your car......you discover that you can get sunburned through your car window......you actually burn your hand opening the car door......you break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 A.M......your biggest motorcycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death"?.....you realize that asphalt has a liquid stage......the potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and add butter......the cows are giving evaporated milk......farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.IT'S SO DRY IN Ohio that the Baptists are starting to baptize by sprinkling, the Methodists are using wet-wipes, the Presbyterians are giving rain checks, and the Catholics are praying for the wine to turn back into water!

Hey Everybody!
Hope you are all staying as cool as possible and have plenty of food! Paul and I, and the dogs!, are doing just fine. I was at work when the storm hit. We had a restaurant full of people when the power went out. I got home about 10:30 that night after we cleaned everything up and the wind died down. It rained here this morning for about an hour and now the sun is out. I think we are going fishing this evening. We took all 4 dogs swimming the other day at Ronceverte and the river water was soooo warm. So much for cooling off!
Thanks for the birthday wishes! It was definitely one I don't think I'll forget!
Love, Addy

Bear keeping cool
The generator is a wonderful invention, expensive, but wonderful. We are using about one gallon per hour. As you can see danny is watching sports and we have two portable ac units running right beside his chair. Works pretty good and keeps it cool til about 6-8. The refrigerator is running so we are doing well on sandwiches cold drinks and peanut butter. Greg gave us a sandwich maker so Jacob is cooking toast and grilled cheese.
We have the oxygen concentrator and some fans hooked up. Power trucks are just coming to our area today and trying to remove trees and fix poles. The web site says Friday night but the guys working are saying realistically possible Sunday.

Where were we when the storm hit? I was pulling weeds in the garden and I noticed that the clouds were covering the sun and a little breeze kicked up and boy did it feel good. I noticed the dog kept getting closer and closer to me and just sitting in my way so I straightened up to rest my back and looked around and then I saw the darkest clouds in the distance towards Giles Co. I heard something that didn't sound right and before I could make it into the house, which is only a few yards it was blowing stuff off the porch. It was like you said, "It came out of no where!" My first thought was that it was a tornado because of the heat and the sound. It blew big limbs out of the walnut trees. It blew them right into the driveway and didn't touch any of the vehicles. Coley and I went out at 10:30 and gathered our debri out of the church lot across the road. It packed a punch, but no rain here either.
Happy Birthday Addy! This is one that came in with a whirlwind. We have about 25 trees down between Meadow Bridge and Home. I was outside when the storm hit and I had to follow some "good 'ole boys" who were cuttin' their way in and I called Blain, so he started cuttin' his way out to me. "Mr. Wonderful!" It was a storm like I haven't seen before. Blain said he didn't know Pine Trees could bend so far and not break. Thanks, Marcia for calling to check on us. Ariel was on her way back from Beckley and she made it to Trish's safely. God was good to us and protected us all, as far as I know.
Where were you, when the storm hit??
Praise God for your last treatment, Alice. Ruth hasn't had rain since June 1st. We didn't get enough rain last night to hardly settle the dust.

Yes the blog can be made into a book. As much as we have blogged we would probably have to make a series of journals. But can be done.
Happy birthday Addy! On this day 26 years ago danny was in the hospital at UVA for his heart valve infection. We were there for six weeks, he was feeling decent this day so we asked for a hospital pass. We took a drive across the blue ridge parkway and when we got back there was a note on his pillow from the nurse that said a little girl named celia Adair had been born!
Love the pictures! Trish did you say that our blog could be made into a book? Or a picture album or something? What an idea! Maybe David could help you, could edit some things.....
Addy, you are becoming quite the "Mrs. McGreggor"! I am proud of you! Gramma would be proud! Grampa would be verrry proud! Our garden shrivels everyday and then we water it in the evening. Looks great the next morning. It is in the 90's for the week coming. But God knows what we need! I love that BUT GOD!
I was pulling the suckers from our tomatoes the other day and got the clearest picture of Mommy in my mind! She was standing in her garden, her back slightly bent, and she said, "Bobby, I love this time of year, I love to smell these when I break them off!" She had one of the old tomato leaves up under her nose and was smelling it and just grinning from ear to ear! Her glasses were smudged and sitting just a little crooked, with God's dirt under her nails. Her hair was coming all undone and blowing in the wind with her shirtwaist dress, her apron with dirty patches here and there. She had no shoes on in my vision with her toes in the dirt. She seemed so happy with her life! Some days I really miss her, and right on the heels of those tears I am so glad they are in Heaven! Family let's do all we know to do, to get there!
Oh! and don't forget to pull the suckers off! Come on ya'll share some garden stories with us all! We would love to hear them!

Yes, Photoshop!! Daddy would be sooo impressed, now wouldn't he? And yes, Alice, we would love to hear from you. You and Danny and All the family are in our prayers. You know, the last verse Mommy quoted was "With God, all things are possible." I believe she quoted that one for a reason!!! She was leaving us something to hold on to!! I remember her saying,"Sometimes, you just gotta believe God for yourself. If nobody else believes, you still can."
I got a nice blessing today while I was in town...I got a hug from Bobbie Shawn!! Lonne, Shawn and Pat were having a quick lunch. You know with Lonnie, Time is Money. I told Shawn that it seems like when I pass him in town, he is going kinda fast for town. Lonnie said, "That's because he gets $40 a load." :)
You know, Paul has another name for Percocet. It's "Park-n-set" !! He said that's what he has to do after taking one of them. He had never had anesthesia before...I think he liked it. LOL

Hey Everybody! I may not post a lot but I do read on a daily basis!
I love the pictures of Mason, he is so precious! Only one problem, Andy and Steve don't look proud at all! lol I agree with Ruth though, we need some pictures with Kim and Teresa.
Happy belated Birthday Steve and Summer. I imagine Summer had a nice time at the beach and Steve, were you working on the garage? just kidding!
I guess everybody is trying to stay cool. It's hot here today but there is a constant breeze which makes it really nice. My summer officially started yesterday when I finished 2 online classes. I haven't been able to do much because of that, and I've been working at Bob Evans in Lewisburg. They stay a lot busier than I expected! Paul had sinus surgery Monday and this morning we had to have his splints taken out. He's still really sleepy from the Percocet, but he's much better since the splints have been taken out. They were causing him a lot of pain.
Even with all this heat my garden is doing pretty well. Mom was impressed so that's gotta be something!
How is Alice? Haven't heard from her in a while.
Just wanted to touch base with everybody! Keep the pictures coming!

I love the picture of the WV boys. I could just picture Daddy standing behind Steve as proud as a peacock...his baby boy with his baby boys! MONICA, don't you know that it ain't gonna take Marleigh 11 weeks to "get it". She's too smart for that. I haven't been on here but I check in from time to time. I have been tryin' to keep the grass cut and the garden growing. Blain has worked 2 weeks straight (weekends included) and he is gettin' grouchy. Glad his vacation starts Saturday. Now, we can cut more grass and work at the garden some more!! Congratulations Andy and Kim! What a wonderful little miracle you have. And Steve and Teresa, you are now in the Grandma - Grandpa crowd, and there is nothin' like it!! Oh, and not to forget Auntie Kelsey. More pics please.
~Rita~
I love the picture Steve :) Guess what we're working on at home? Today was the first day we buckled down and stuck to it and Marleigh did really well. We had a few accidents of course. I didn't get to finish her chart until tonight but I think she's going to like it when she sees it in the morning :) I got it set up for 11 weeks just in case lol!!

Congratulations!! Mason is so handsome :) I think I see a little bit of Andy in his face. I love his room too. Glad to hear everyone is doing well. Alice, it's wonderful to hear you were able to go to church!! Danny, I love the black and white pic of you and the ladies. I think yal should blow it up and put it on a wall in your house :)
Hi Everyone, Just a note to update on Alice. She was able to go to church last Sunday but the chemo on Wed. sat her back again. This one made her sick before we got home and she was sick during the night.
We just finished the 7th. treatment and hopefully we will have maybe 2 more. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.
How are you doing Danny, have you heard anything about your treatment. We continue to pray for you and the family.
Love and Prayers to All.

Happy Father's Day, late!!! Yesterday evening Mark's parents came down and we all went out to eat for supper with mom, dad and Corey. We got to talking to a lady that was at the table beside us and their father that was there with them was 104 years old. He was using a walker that had wheels on it but other than that he seemed to be getting around good for a man of his age :)
a picture for you
