Danny, I'm glad you got to come home today :)  If anyone is wondering from the previous blog, yes, I said "him" lol.  They had a drag contest and from what Mark heard the fella in the red high hills is a professional at that.  I believe it because the first time we saw him I thought he was a girl but the next time I happened to see his muscles and thought something might be amiss :P  I'll try to post the video of the contest if it's not to long.

We had a Relay for Life event this evening at the park.  It was so beautiful, perfect weather!!!  They are having entertainment and walking through 6 in the morning.  We were there for a couple hours and had a wonderful time.  Rita, Teresa, you likin' his shoes???
We got home from the hospital at 4. His breathing is better but still not great. Still has fluid both lungs and will take pneumonia a while to clear out. He is enjoying sitting in his chair! Danny's mom brought brown beans, corn bread, and strawberries, then his aunt ruthie brought potato soup. Clarence and Tina and their two kids Meggan and Garrett all came over and cleaned house, did laundry and mowed and weed eat the yard! I don't know what we would do without everyone helping us. Tina has taken Jacob to school all week and then friends have been taking care of him after school and ball practice. Tanner has started working this week with a yard service and doesn't get home Til 10 at night! Continue to remember him in prayer. We love you guys
Trish
Going home today!

Trish, What hospital is Danny in?  We love you guys and are praying for you all.

Update on danny

We are still in the Hospital. Will be Til Friday prob. His blood has returned to almost normal for him. His breathing is a little better. The worse thing is coughing because that causes him so much pain. Between the pain shots and pain pills and a new air mattress he is getting a little rest. The doctors are working on md anderson in Houston but we still don't know anything yet. Thanks for the prayers and keep em coming. Love to all
Trish
Amen again, Stand FIRM , Until God comes through!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amen, sister! The world says that "seeing is believing," but God says "believing is seeing.

Faith

The natural question is, "What is faith?"  Most Christians probably know the technical definition for faith from Hebrews 11:1,

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

The New International Version says, Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.  That is pretty clear.  But it becomes even more clear when you plug that definition into 1 Timothy 6:12,

Fight the good fight of [the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  Fight the good fight of being sure of what you hope for and being convinced of what you do not see.]

When the answer to your prayers is not on the horizon, when you don't feel differently, you need to fight the good fight and say, "You know what?  God's Word says it and that's all the evidence I need.  It is the evidence of things not seen, and I'm going to stand on that truth.  I don't care what the world says, I don't care what circumstances say, I am going to fight the good fight of the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of what I do not see."

And you stay with it until, as they say, "Faith turns to sight."

What are you struggling with today? What challenge is testing your faith? Stand firm on the truth of God's Word.  Trust Him, no matter what others may say.

Real faith is standing firm in the midst of the storm. So stand firm!

Love you all and hope all the Mother's had a wonderful and blessed day yesterday.
We will be praying for you both.
We will be praying.
Danny is being admitted to the hospital. He has fluid in both lungs and probably a pneumonia. Really need your prayers tonight guys. Love you all Trish
I had Ms. Nolen for Home Ec also.

No Way!!  I had her for Home Ec. too!!

~Rita~
Trish, I had her for my home ect. teacher.
Congratulations, Emily! We are so proud of you. Danny, you are always in our thoughts and prayers. Hope everyone had a happy Mother's day. Brooks and Clara were with us from around noon on Friday until Sunday evening when we took them home and had a wonderful Mother's Day dinner at Amy and Greg's (Greg's brothers, Matt and Ryan, did all the cooking and the cleaning up afterwards.) We had chicken cordon bleu on the grill, mashed potatoes, sugar snap peas, salad, and asparagus. Elaine made an angel food cake with whipped cream and strawberries and a chocolate pie. A wonderful meal indeed! Matt taught Brooks how to spray whipped topping directly into his mouth. At first he was puzzled, but when he saw Matt do the same and eat it, he was hooked. Clara and Brooks played outside on the trampoline, swings, etc., with Belinda's children on Saturday and had a wonderful time. Yesterday they discovered an earthworm on the patio (Clara said it was beautiful and wondered if she could eat it) which they pulled grass for it to eat and they watered it out of the water cups.

How many of you had mrs Nolen for home ec at west?

Hey Everybody! Happy Mother's Day! It's kind of rainy and dreary here today. Paul and I visited both our Moms today. Dad wasn't very happy to see us because we took him something else to mow around! Mom will have to post pictures when she decides where she wants dad to plant it.
Paul's dad has bought some property across from our house and has been clearing it off. There are honeysuckle bushes everywhere so we helped ouselves to some additions to our landscaping around the front of our house. We also got the rocks from across the road too, and the stump. We still have the other side of the porch to do, but it's coming along! So far I have some azaleas, lilacs, and the honeysuckle. We also got the rest of our garden planted since we've had a couple nice days for the ground to dry up a bit.
Happy Mother's Day to all!!!  Emily, you look so beautiful!!  Congratulations on this milestone :)
Hope everyone has a good Mother's Day.  All you kids, don't forget your Mom's.  It's not about the trinkets and such, it's about the time and the "I love you" that she loves so much!  God has a good plan in Moms.  I know I am still blessed by the Mom He gave all of us.  Kimberly, I can't wait to see what kind of Mom you become.

Emily, you're so pretty and I know Trish and Danny are so proud of you! Congrats!
Hope every one has a Blessed Mother's Day

Garage

David:

The garage did have some termite damage and some of the foundation was rotten.  That's not bad for 62 + years though.  I am planning on building on the same spot only bigger.  Concrete floor, insulation, heat, etc.

Daddy use to play with Everett and Bea

Bluegrass legend Everett Lilly dies

Bluegrass legend and Raleigh County native Everett Lilly, who with his brother Bea, reached the heights of bluegrass fame, died at his home in Clear Creek Tuesday afternoon, according to his son, Everett. He was 87.  The brothers began performing together as boys and after World War II, they played live on WJLS radio. From there they moved to Wheeling radio and then to Knoxville, Tenn.
In the '50s, Everett played with Flatt and Scruggs and played with them at the Grand Ol' Opry in Nashville.  The pair also spent 16 years in Boston playing at the Hillbilly Ranch and are credited with bringing the bluegrass sound to Japan. The Lilly Brothers were inducted into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame and the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame. Everett received the Vandalia Award, West Virginia's highest folklife honor, in 2009.  Bea Lilly died in 2005. Everett played on with his sons and other musicians as the Lilly Mountaineers.  Funeral arrangements for Lilly are unknown at this time.

~Rita~

It was good to hear the update on Danny.  I'm glad that your 1st trip is going to be taken care of as far as the flying part.  I can't believe it's so hard taking care of the oxygen though.  Addy, that place looks beautiful in the picture but it doesn't look like it fits in the mountains of WV lol!!!  I have never heard of it.  Today was supposed to be a rainy do so we took Mar bowling for the 1st time.  I had a coupon for 2 free games for children :)  She made it to the last frame of the 1st game then lost interest.  She had fun though.  I tell ya, a ramp and bumpers make all the difference in the world.  Her score was 101!!  I did not break 100 :{ lol
Addy: A few years ago Dan and I took a week and toured West Virginia, and we visted the place you are talking about. Actually, unless someone told you about it, you would not even know it is there. It is indeed down a single lane dirt road. A lot of the concrete is crumbling, because the people that actually built it were young people who looked in books to see how to do concrete, and they didn't learn everything that they needed to know. Also, there is chanting over a loud speaker all the time. It is a good thing that the building is out among the chickens and cows.
Steve, have been watching your posts about the demolition of the garage with interest. Sure looks different now. Do you plan to put up a new one on the same spot? By the way, Daddy told me he finished the garage while Mommy was carrying me, so that landmark was at least 62 years old when you took it down. The wood was not rotten (or was it?) nor destroyed by termits, so it lasted for a long while . . . not that I'm old or anything. Congrats Emily on your graduation. I'm very proud of you. Lowe's . . . one of my favorite stores too! I should buy stock in the place. Danny we are still praying for you that all things will work out well. The Bible says, "All things work together for good, to those who are the called according to His purpose." Alice, we are keeping you in our prayers every day as well. Sorry we couldn't make the get together at Lonnie's but did enjoy the pictures that were posted. Love to all.
Hey everyone,
Emily is working at Lowes in Princeton.  The won't move to Morgantown until mid July.  Tanner finishes up with exams this week then he has a job working with one of the local lawn services for the summer.  We are still waiting on work from Houston for an appt.  I think we have the flight arranged through a company called Mercy Medical Airlift.  The American Cancer Society pays for one trip per calendar year for a patient and caregiver round trip to an appt.  Getting his oxygen situated is another story!  To fly with oxygen you have to have an approved portable concentrator AND enough battery power to fly the whole trip.  They do not allow you to plug in to their power source.  External batteries do not come with the oxygen so I had to purchase 2 of those.  One lasts only 3 hours!  If you think a battery is expensive for your laptop?  Each of these batteries are 300$.  Definately don't take your air for granted:)  I will let you know when we know anything.
Congrats Emily on graduation and the new job!  Still praying for Alice and Danny.
Rita and Bobbie~ I'm not sure why Lowe's wouldn't want me with my bubbly personality, I just don't understand I guess I need to get pointers from Emily on how to get a job there. hehe  It couldn't have been that salad from Food and Friends that I had with that poppy seed dressing?!?!?!?

Danny, I'm so happy that you are feeling up to mowing!!  You look good out there :P  Addy, let me do some thinking on the Olympics and I'll get back to you.  This evening we were all finally able to get together and take the boys out for their birthdays.  Marleigh especially enjoyed it!!  At one time Adam and Corey got to laughing and joking around with each other and she was just enthused by them, watching them and smiling :)  I hope everyone is able to stay out of the heat for the next couple days.  It was a hot one today.  We had a storm blow through this evening that cooled things down quite a bit.  Vonda, how did the surgery on your other eye go?  Steve and Teresa, things are looking good up on the hill and you didn't have to burn any trees!! lol :)  Love to all

Thursday, May 3, 2012

Addy: Have you tried googling "Hillbilly Olympic games"?
Hey everybody! I need some ideas. We are hosting the Hillbilly Olympics at school the day after we are finished testing and I thought you guys might have some creative ideas for events. I have toilet seat horseshoes, pin the tooth on the hillbilly, Nascar scooters, hubcap hurl, and beer goggle wheelbarrow racing to name a few. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Glad Alice is doing ok Tell her we are still praying for her and Danny we are still praying for you and Trish too, My eye surgery went real well the dr. said, I didn't know how blind I was till they removed the cataract. Then it was like night and Day. Hope all is well with everyone else , love you All.
Hi Everyone, We got the report from the CT scan and all looks well except the left lung which has some fluid. The Dr. said that as long as there was no shortness of breath that they would leave it alone and see if the next chemo would take care of it. The Dr. said they would do one more chemo and then check everything with another CT scan.
Trish and Danny we are still praying for a miracle on your behalf, hang in there.
Vonda, how was the eye surgery?
Praying for the family always.
Love and Prayers
Joe and Alice

They found a new tumor on his r lung. The one on the left is larger. I am trying to talk him into going to md anderson cancer center in Texas. They specialize in sarcoma.
We are at Charlottesville waiting on the doctor! Danny had his ct scan this morning and waiting now for results. He is scheduled for chemo but he isn't physically able to get it. Still coughing and weak as a kitten. Speaking of cats, we were getting ready to leave this morning and I put the dogs out and then here come my cat with a MOUSE! He wouldn't turn it over to me or take it outside before we left so I am sure he will have it laying beside the door proudly displaying it when we get home:)

Hi All, I just wanted to check in. Please remember mom and dad in your prayers. When mom went to feed dad breakfast yesterday she could not rouse him. They think he may have had a stroke or something like that. They did bloodwork and will wait to see. Mom said when he did open his eyes he had a blank stare and could not communicate with her. He finally came around after about a hour and a half. We will keep you all updated. Alice and Danny we lift you in prayer always.Daniel and Trish I pray God continue to give you strength to be His caretakers for your loved ones. Praising God this beautiful Sunday for my family..near and far.
