I love this idea Teresa!!  I do agree that it may be to cool for the lil' ones if we do it in October.  I like combining Labor Day/Fall Festival and having it for the whole Labor Day weekend.  Would you be able to plant the pumpkins seeds early enough to where they would be ready for carving on Labor Day?  I don't know if you have to plant them at a certain time or not.  I can think on some games for the kids between now and then.  Mark and I have to work Dec 31, that's our last day that week, so we won't be able to come.  It sounds like it's going to be nice though.  I like the soup idea :)
Sounds like a plan coming togather to me :)
We live close so it doesn't matter either way.  I am for the White Elephant/Christmas Carol/Soup for New Years...All sounds good to me.

~Rita~
We can do a white elephant at Christmas/New Years, what is a Treadway gathering without white elephant gift exchange?!!!??!?
If we replace our family reunion on Labor Day with the Fall festival in October, some people may be prohibited from coming because they would not have time off from work. Also, it could be quite cold and bad that late in the year. I would vote to still have it Labor Day, but our schedules are such that we can do whatever the majority thinks.

I love the idea of everyone bringing a crockpot full of soup for New Year's. Do you plan to do another white elephant at Christmas or not?

Treadway Fall Festival

I was just wanting to run an idea past the Treadway clan. I was thinking that it would be nice to have our own Fall Festival right here at the home place. I was thinking that we could have a hay ride, corn hole, make apple butter, have lots of games for the lil' ones(would need some ideas from those with lil' ones) and even have games for those not so lil' ones. Rita even suggested that I throw out some pumpkin and gourd seeds in the orchard and the lil' ones and big ones could go and pick their own pumpkins and carve them.
I was thinking it would be nice to have it the third weekend in October, this would take the place of the Family Reunion that we have Labor Day weekend. If October is not work out for everyone we could still have it Labor Day weekend but it would be Family Reunion/Fall Festival. I would also like to have it for the entire weekend not just a few hours one day. People travel a long ways to see each other and then they only spend a few hours together, we don't get together that often, so for those that can we will just have a weekend long celebration. I think it would be a "hoot".
Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Oh, by the way we would still have the white elephant then also, everyone seems to enjoy it.

Before I let everyone go I also wanted to invite everyone that can to a Christmas/New Years Party Saturday, December 31 at 1:00. I would like to suggest that everyone bring their favorite soup (in a crock pot) or finger foods and your favorite drinks. Please let me know if this works out for everyone or if you plan on attending so I will know what to do.

It Sure does.

Doesn't the following make you think of Mommy:

I am part of the Fellowship of the Unashamed.

The die has been cast. The decision has been made. I have stepped over the line. I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.

My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is in God’s hands. I am finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, the bare minimum, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, frivolous living, selfish giving, and dwarfed goals.

I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, applause, or popularity. I don’t have to be right, first, the best, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. I now live by faith. I lean on Christ’s presence. I love with patience, live by prayer, and labor with the power of God’s grace.

My face is set. My gait is fast, my goal is heaven. My road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions are few, my Guide is reliable, and my mission is clear.

I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded, or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.

I won’t give up, shut up, let up, or slow up until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and spoken up for the cause of Christ.

I am a disciple of Jesus. I must go till he comes, give until I drop, speak out until all know, and work until he stops me.

And when he returns for his own, he will have no difficulty recognizing me. My banner is clear: I am a part of the Fellowship of the Unashamed.

1. Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble; it is a "steering wheel" that directs us in the right path throughout life.

2. Do you know why a car's windshield is so large and the rear view mirror is so small? Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE. So, look ahead and move on.

3. Friendship is like a book. It takes a few seconds to burn, but it takes years to write.

4. All things in life are temporary. If going well, enjoy it--they will not last. If going wrong, don't worry--they can't last long either.

5. Old friends are like gold! New friends are like diamonds! If you get a diamond, don't forget the gold. Because to hold a diamond, you always need a base of gold.

6. Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, God smiles from above and says, "Relax, sweetheart, it's just a bend--not the end!"

7. When God solves your problems, you have faith in His abilities; when God doesn't solve your problems, He has faith in your abilities.

8. A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse than losing your eyesight?" He replied: "Yes, losing your vision."

9. When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them; and sometimes when you are safe and happy, remember than someone has prayed for you.

10. Worrying does not take away tomorrow's troubles; it takes away today's peace.

6 pictures for you

Just to explain a few pics we took while visiting Vonda...We surprised
Teresa with a little birthday party...cake and all. The one of Ruth
and Bobbie is where they are analyzing Mommy's flower blooms...they
are their mother's daughters...at least they look like her in her
gowns! And Vonda looks so pretty, don't you think? I took some of us
all but I must have had the camera on the wrong setting because I
didn't get not one of them! And we all looked so good after church!

11 point buck

I got the 11 point this morning eating apples in the drive way.

Mark carved Marleigh's pumpkin this evening too.  For some reason she still isn't a fan of the guts in the pumpkin.  She started crying when I put her close to it but yet she used her little spoon and played in the guts in the bowl :P  Anybody have any recipes for pumpkin seeds?  Adam has a hankerin' for some.  I tried to get him to take ours but he didn't think they would keep until he could fix them.

So I tried the fried kool aid (cherry flavor) this evening.  I would recommend heating the oil on medium heat.  I started out with it on high and it was burning them before 30 seconds I would say.  I turned the heat down to medium high and waited till they were "golden brown".  They were looking like beautiful little squids (lol) and I couldn't wait to try them.  In the process I was unaware that I was smoking the kitchen and living room up :P  We had to open the patio door and cut the ceiling fan on.  It was a lot of batter so I quit with what you see here.  I opened the first one and batter oozed out.  I opened several more and the same thing.  I went through all of them and all but maybe 3 hadn't cooked all the way through :{  This was a learning experience so next time I'll know.  Mark said they could be a little sweeter.  I only used 1/4 cup sugar.
This is Rita. We are at Vonda's and the sun is coming out and it looks to be a pretty day. We are going out shopping for a while today. Vonda went to feed David breakfast. Trish, how is Danny? We all miss you but we know you are where you should be. Loved seeing his pic. Lorie, Hope you have a good visit in WV. Your dogs were quiet last night. TTYL

Hey Lori , enjoy your time at the house. I had made plans for my seminar in Morgantown awhile ago. Make Lonnie be your tour guide, he is a good one when he wants to be.

Trish , do you and Danny need anything? Call me, I am free on Mondays now if you need anything. Tell Danny, I know I can take him down now. He told me the other day this was probably the only time I could take him.

Everyone be safe on your travels.

Trip

Not really a tour guide just want some company. Marcia has to go to Morgantown for the weekend for classes and the ladies will be up here. We don't want to come all the way down to visit and get no visiting done. Lonnie is working too. Trish we are hoping we can see you and Danny on Sunday if even for a little bit. Steve if you come up to Lonnie's can you grab Jacob from wherever he is staying. I told Trish he can stay with us for the weekend so he can visit with the girls :) We are leaving around 5 in the morning> Shawn's cell is 313-492-2979 and mine is 734-493-2391 if anyone needs to reach us. I would ask that the family pray for safe travels for all that are on the move tomorrow.

Trip

Trish, tell Danny to hang in there. I think Teresa is going with the sisters to see Vonda. Lorrie is coming down here I think and I am sopposed to be some kind of tour guide?

Steve Treadway

We ladies are going up to see our oldest sister! We begin our first leg of our trip this evening, so say a prayer for traveling grace for this weekend. I wish I could get in my car and go anywhere like the rest of you do, but that doesn't seem to be my lot in life! Somebody speak some words over me!!!!!!! Anyway we hope for a good visit in the Lord and lots of encouragement for life!
We are praying for you Danny. I stood in prayer for you on Sunday at a visiting church and God moved with His presence. I am thanking him ahead of time for the wonderful testimony you will give one day! We are overcomers by the word of our testimony and the blood of the Lamb!!! Praise the Lord!
Fried Kool-Aid Recipe

Ingredients:

Vegetable oil (for frying)
1/4 cup to 1/2 cup Kool-Aid
3 eggs
1/4 of sugar (Want it sweeter? Add more)
1/2 tsp. of salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 cups milk
3 2/3 cups of flour

Optional:

1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. dark chocolate (melted)
1 tsp. honey

Make the batter by beating the eggs and sugar together. Gradually add the milk and dry ingredients, including the optional ones. Cook in hot vegetable oil until golden brown (a few minutes, depending on heat). Cool in tray for a few minutes, then dig in.

Monica, Zanesville is east of Columbus on I-70 (a couple of hours from us). We never felt any danger from the animals. Apparently there is one monkey still on the loose.
Good morning or should I say what a terrible night. Danny didn't sleep well at all. He was staying on top of the fluid at first but it's catching up with him now. His shoulder and arm hurt all night from surgery, it's been 5 months since he had his surgery and he still can't sleep on that side. The nurses and all the staff are wonderful kind and friendly so that helps. Yesterday morning a police officer came into our room at 730! The first thing I thought was I had been caught on camera doing something:). Someone hit our car while parked in the garage. Hit the bumper and messed it up. Thank goodness she reported it. She actually works here in the cath lab. Her insurance adjuster is coming to our house Tuesday.
Monica what exactly is fried kool aid? Your retreat sounds nice. Oh and make sure you get plenty pictures of marleigh pulling the guts out of her pumpkin:0)
I will get Eloise's address and her brother was her dads son not her moms. But I am sure he would appreciate a card.
What trip is everyone taking?
Will update later! Thanks for the prayers:)
