James 1:22 says: “Be ye doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” When we think about being doers of the Word, we sometimes get the idea that God is laying out dos and don’ts, or rules that constrict and limit us. In reality, when God shows us things in the Word, we see promises that unleash life to us and in us. So when James says, “Be doers of the Word and not just hearers”, he is saying that when we discover a promise, we should mix faith with it. In other words, just do it, because behind the revelation of the promise, God’s intent is that you would have life and have it more abundantly. He’s not trying to rule you or dominate you; He’s trying to bless you. When you discover a promise in the Word of God don’t wonder, “Why? Why can’t I? Why don’t I?” Don’t “why” yourself into death’s grip, but just “do” yourself into life.

Be a doer!

Danny and Trish:

Here is a word for you today: Hebrews 10:23: Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Be tenacious in holding onto God's promises. Aggressively pursue God, study His Word, and build up your faith.

I need all my brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews to touch heaven in prayer for my brother Curtis. Please pray! I have asked Rita to go get him with me so we are leaving here in a little bit. Please pray for our safe travels. Love you all!

Hey All
Monica and Lorie, I loved the pics.  Teresa, I am glad you are back on here.  It's been really quiet lately.  I really like the slide idea on the hill side.  I bet Steve could probably get some help from say, Lonnie and Shawn, and Teresa, you could have your own fall festival.  Throw out some pumpkins seeds out on the hillside below the orchard and by Oct., you would have plenty for decoration.  You could rig up something for a hayride up in the woods, make you up some Apple Cider, incorporate some help from your family and friends, and you would have a wonderful Fall Event.  Maybe even a Craft Show.  O What Fun!  The family could make plans to come, enjoy, and help clean up. =)  We could even make Apple Butter.
I love this time of year...The leaves are beautiful on the Mtn and the weather couldn't be nicer.  It is Soup time and I can't wait to see what Ruth is Cookin' Up!~!  She must be cookin' up somethin' with all them recipes!

Danny, We are still praying for you and the rest of the family.  Keep agreeing with what God says,  no matter what things look like.  God says that by His stripes, you were healed.  Praise God!

~Rita~
I love all the new pics of the kids on here. Monica~Marleigh is just the cutest and she doesn't seem to be afraid of anything. I hope that was mud she was picking off. I will get Steve right on that slide thing, it will only be project 586 maybe. haha So many projects, so little time. Definitely have to put safety features on it so nobody gets hurt. (Addy)
Lorrie~I also enjoyed seeing your girls on here, hope they had a great time visiting their pawpaw.

Me and Steve mowed both fields Saturday and Sunday and cut down some trees and bushes and cleaned off the dead flowers coming up the hill, so all in all we had a pretty productive weekend. Have to weed eat the yard and maybe cut down some apple trees that are dead out in the orchard this week. My kids are coming in for bridge day this weekend and I think Kaye, Billy, Nicki, and Charley are coming also. (Maybe Kim's parents too) We should have a house full this weekend.... I love it. Hope the weather is nice, it gets really cold on that bridge.

Very funny Monica! yesterday I was joking with one of my students and he said, "You better watch it! I'll throw you down a snow bank!" The nerve!

This is the marshmallow train.  These are the barrells I think they cut the sleds from for the slides.  Nana and Mar rode together.  We all took a hay ride with the big tractor.  Mar found her a little pumpkin.  After a few tries she was able to keep a good hold of it and carry it around.  We had a blessed day and it was nice to have that quality time together especially for this season :)  Love to all, MP3

Marleigh's favorite thing at the Pumpkin Patch was the slide.  I don't know what it's made out of but it's pretty ingenious!!  They had cut little sleds out of the white water barrells (you'll see in a few minutes) for the kids to sit on.  There was a rope that they held onto like a regular sled.  Once you put them on it, they took off!!  Mar didn't go as fast as the others since she's smaller but it surprised me the speed that she did have.  It was perfect for her :)  And she threw a fit when we moved on to the next area lol.  I think we could manufacture one of these on one of Steve's hills (hint, hint) :P  Of course, due to past events there will have to be safety gear, Addy.

After the festival we went to the Pumpkin Patch.  Marleigh wasn't a bit afraid of the animals.  I think she could grow up to have her own grooming business lol!!  She was picking stuff off of the animals and throwing it on the ground.  I choose to believe that it was mud she was picking off the calf :P

Hey there!!  I hope this finds everyone doing well on this beautiful day the Lord has made for us :)  This morning all of my family went to the Fall Festival.  We got there at 10 and the fog was still hanging around but the sun made its way through around 10:30.  One of the churches there were making apple butter.  I don't think I've ever seen it made before!

Conversation is exercise of the mind.. Gossip is just exercise of the tongue.
Thought for the Day:

Everything heaven has to offer comes with the currency of faith.

Smith Wigglesworth was a mighty man of faith. On one occasion, God told him to get up and go across town to pray for a woman who was sick. He instantly obeyed, but when he arrived at the home of the sick woman, relatives informed him she had just died.

Smith Wigglesworth said, "God sent me here to pray for her. Whether she is dead or alive does not affect me."

He entered the house and was escorted to the room of the deceased. He picked her up out of the bed and leaned her against the wall and shouted, "Live, in Jesus' name!" Instantly the woman returned to life.

Danny, Praise God you're eating Pizza!!!

I have a special prayer request.  I have a friend, Dr. Brad Lane, who lost his maternal grandmother the 21st.  Before they had the funeral, his mother died also.  I went to the funeral today and when I talked to him, he said, "You've got to pray for me, please, I've got to get through this."  He was close to his grandmother, like our kids were with Mommy.  His mother was 55.  He is from Mullens, WV.   I know he would appreciate your prayers.  He is a christian and he believes in prayer.

~Rita~
I understand, Trish, and you're excused!

I hope the rest of you out there can find the time to get some more to me though. I would really appreciate all that you can send.
Ruth I have some haven't had my head wrapped around sending them.
Danny just had pizza for lunch with applesauce for dessert. He is feeling good. Has almost 24 hours of chemo behind him now. One of his doctors came in this morning and asked him how his treatments were going and if he was sick or rather how sick. Danny told him he wasn't getting sick. He wasn't going to allow it. The doctor looked at him a little funny and then just continued with his exam. As he was leaving he looked back smiled and said "no sickness allowed, I like that".

He got several ecards this morning tHat I have put in the window, all with such encouraging words!
Hey all you cooks out there!

I didn't get very many recipes, and I surely would appreciate a whole bunch more!
Danny is on Floor 8 West, Room 8180A per Hospital Information.
He is on 8 west. Room 8180

He didn't sleep at all last night. Up to the bathroom getting rid of fluid all night. But PRAISE GOD no sickness!
Trish, we need his room #and floor, to send the card.

Trish, and Danny our prayers and thoughts are with you all, God is still in control, just trust him for all your needs , he is always faithful.
Round 1 consists of 3 drugs. Adriamycin ( aka Red Devil) is running 24/7 for 3 days and then ifofsamide runs over an hour x4 doses and Mesna which runs 24/7 x 4 doses. We will be here til Saturday this time. 8th floor at UVA. Beautiful view of the mountains. He will get treatments every 21 days. So it looks like our next treatment will be the 18th of October. 24 hours after we come home he has to go to a clinic and get a drug called neulasta for his white count. I am able to stay in his room so I am thankful for that. Thanks for all your prayers,
Trish and Danny
Amen, Trish! With our words we create our world just as God did when he spoke the world into existence. Words are much more powerful than we can even imagine!

Is he in Charlottesville? How long does he have to say in the hospital? How long between treatments?

Danny says this is his luxurious hotel. As you can see thats his 5 star meal in the background! JUST started chemo! I keep telling him he is not gonna get sick so you guys can help me with that!

Steve~  Haha No, I didn't.  My director had a booth though:)  I am pretty sure we looked redneck enough the way it was.  We didn't need anymore help:)

Janet did you sell Mary Kay at the tractor pull?  That would be grounds for being a redneck!

Dan~ Dan- Sending you hugs and slobbery kisses from all of us...except Matthew of course.  I will be posting pictures of the tractor pulls for your enjoyment.

Matthew placed fourth out of about 30 in the tractor pulls and both kids pulled in the tractor pulls.  Sounds redneck, I know, but we really had FUN!

Love to all of you!

One more thing,  I will be placing a Mary Kay order on October 2nd, if anyone needs to replenish their supply.  Special this month:  15% off of $40 orders.

Mary Kay and Tractor Pulls~  What a combination:)

Awesome words, Julie! Words to LIVE by!

I was listening to a minister over the weekend (Bill Winston), and he used a scripture for healing that I had not heard used in that context before:

Romans 8:11 - But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Danny, it is a fact that you have cancer, but it ain't the TRUTH! What God says about that is the truth!
Good Morning Danny. What does one say to another when they are on an Emotional Roller Coaster?
I, who have gone through Cancer have no real answer except to share a part of my own story and how I talked to God.
“Lord, here is the Problem…Here is my need…Here is my desire to be whole again.
Lord, I refuse Fear. Fear will only destroy my wobbly faith because I see the doubt, hear the doubt from the lips of my wonderful doctor.”
Danny, Trish, Sometimes my Faith level was High ….Sometimes I had to spend time with God to resurrect it.
One thing I do KNOW for sure and Certain is that God took what Faith I had to offer for that day and He told me to accept HIS REST and I did.
I gave this to Him who loves me most….on a daily basis. Then I continued to LIVE…without Self-pity…without Depression. I did stupid things to make myself laugh to rise above any inkling of Depression. (“A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.)” – Proverbs 17:22 (Amplified Bible)

I sang the scripture which says, “Whose report will you believe? I will believe the report of the Lord. Whose report will you receive? I will receive the report of the Lord. His report says I am healed…His report says I am filled…His report says I am free…His report brings Victory.”
God was and still is FAITHFUL! When I did my best on a daily basis; He mixed my sometimes meager portions with His best and gave me just enough for that day.
I was told I could not live past 3 years because I had Carcinoma and endometrial cancers at the same time.
12 and 1 /2 years later I still give Him who loves me, the Faith I have for the day and He mixes it with His Faithfulness and with the Stripes He bore for my healing…..I still live.
But these can seem like only words to you….. in your present state.
May I suggest that you print out all of the ‘encouraging words’, all the ‘I am Praying for you’ notes…..put them in a booklet and read them. I read my cards over and over and over……I breathed in the strength that people were offering me…..I would lift them up to my Lord and simply say…. “Lord, I believe and I Rest my case”.
Children,I offer my Prayers in with the mix of so many others.
I love you and lift you, Trish and your precious children up before God with you. Jesus Never Fails!

Friday, September 23, 2011

Danny, all across the land, from Michigan to Virginia, to Ohio, to Florida, to West Virginia, to Kentucky, even to Germany, people are praying for you and for your complete recovery from this thing. God is in control and He takes pleasure in us asking Him for healing. We will continue to pray!
Love you all
David & Julie
Our pastor says: Prayer is what releases God to do what He wants to do in the earth. And I know that God only wants to do what is good for his children.
We didn't get to go on Thursday for chemo.  They couldn't put the central line in until Monday.  So at Wednesday 10pm the doctor called and said not until Monday, so we wait!
I showered and shaved, I adjusted my tie. I got there and sat,In a pew just in time.
Bowing my head in prayer As I closed my eyes. I saw the shoe of the man next to me Touching my own. I sighed. With plenty of room on either side I thought, 'Why must our soles touch?' It bothered me, his shoe touching mine.. But it didn't bother him much.
A prayer began: 'Our Father' I thought, 'This man with the shoes, has no pride. They're dusty, worn, and scratched. Even worse, there are holes on the side!' 'Thank You for blessings,' the prayer went on. The shoe man said A quiet 'Amen.' I tried to focus on the prayer But my thoughts were on his shoes again. Aren't we supposed to look our best. When walking through that door? 'Well, this certainly isn't it,' I thought, Glancing toward the floor. Then the prayer was ended And the songs of praise began. The shoe man was certainly loud Sounding proud as he sang.
His voice lifted the rafters His hands were raised high. The Lord could surely hear.. The shoe man's voice from the sky. It was time for the offering And what I threw in was steep. I watched as the shoe man reached Into his pockets so deep. I saw what was pulled out What the shoe man put in.
Then I heard a soft 'clink' . As when silver hits tin. The sermon really bored me To tears, and that's no lie. It was the same for the shoe man... For tears fell from his eyes. At the end of the service As is the custom here. We must greet new visitors, And show them all good cheer. But I felt moved somehow And wanted to meet the shoe man. So after the closing prayer I reached over and shook his hand. He was old and his skin was dark And his hair was truly a mess. But I thanked him for coming For being our guest.
He said, 'My names' Charlie I'm glad to meet you, my friend.' There were tears in his eyes But he had a large, wide grin..'Let me explain,' he said Wiping tears from his eyes. 'I've been coming here for months And you're the first to say 'Hi.'' 'I know that my appearance 'Is not like all the rest. 'But I really do try'To always look my best.' 'I always clean and polish my shoes...'Before my very long walk. 'But by the time I get here.'They're dirty and dusty, like chalk.' My heart filled with pain And I swallowed to hide my tears. As he continued to apologize For daring to sit so near. He said, 'When I get here'I know I must look a sight. 'But I thought if I could touch you 'Then maybe our souls might
unite.' I was silent for a moment Knowing whatever was said Would pale in comparison I spoke from my heart, not my head. 'Oh, you've touched me,' I said 'And taught me, in part; 'That the best of any man 'Is what is found in his heart.' The rest, I thought, This shoe man will never know. Like just how thankful I really am.... That his dirty old shoe touched my soul

Amen in MI

We are all lifting you up to the Lord Trish and Danny! God is good and we thank him daily for this awesome praying family and the grandparents that started it.

Well I see that didn't work.  I'll send it to Trish and she can get it on there so you can read it.  It will touch your heart
--
~Rita~
You guys don't know what it means to us to know you are sending prayers up for us. It is so easy to let him in and hear him say there's no need to pray, it's already in his lungs too. But then I remember mommy telling me the story of how god healed her legs and how she witnessed to everyone she met about that and how the doctors would sometimes look at me like yeah right! There's no way they don't hurt, but mommy persisted. I can't help but believe God does have a purpose for this. Danny and I have already shared more sunsets since his diagnosis than we ever did before it. I pray that many years down the road he can witness about his miracles that God performed in his life.
Love to all and thanks so much for the prayers
Trish and Danny

AMEN!!  I'm praying and believing here!

~Rita~
Steve: Several of us have been doing that for months now for both of them - even BEFORE Danny was diagnosed. God knew the future, and He began mobilizing an army before we even knew the great need for one! The more family and friends that enlist, the mightier the army when we become of one mind and one accord!

It is NOT God's will for his children to be sick! Jesus purchased their healing when he took stripes on his back before he went to the cross, just as surely as he purchased our salvation by his death. Sickness is a curse, and we are REDEEMED from curses. Now it is just up to us to pull that healing out of the spiritual realm into the physical one the same way we obtained our salvation -- BY FAITH! Praise the Lord and Hallelujah!

Praise God And Amen,

Romans 15:1 says "We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves."
I challange each of you that are strong to hold Danny and the family up in there time of weakness. We love you guys!
I know I don't blog much, but can I get an Amen?

I have a praise!  Our staff has started having prayer together each morning at our school.  While we have had this in schools before, it never happened at Danese for various reasons.  We have an excellent staff and it certainly makes "work" a much better place to be.  Just wanted to share that with you all!

Danny and Trish~  Each morning at 7:15, several of us are lifting you up in prayer.  Love you both:)
Hey, guys, remember how we used to churn butter? Well, I learned a few things I didn't know about churning butter (washing and kneading). And they say old dogs can't learn new tricks!

HOMEMADE BUTTER

Start to finish: 20 minutes
Makes about 1 lb. butter

1 quart heavy cream, left at room temperature for 30 minutes
Salt, optional

To use the food processor, pour the cream into the bowl fitted with either the plastic or metal blade. Process on high.

To use an electric mixer, pour the cream into the bowl and beat with the wire whip attachment. Use a deep bowl with a splatter guard if available.

Regardless of the method used, the cream will go through the same stages. At first the cream will thicken and be whipped into soft peaks, then firm peaks. Then the cream will begin to get grainy. Finally a liquid will be released so that you have lumps of fat in a milky colored liquid. The entire process should take 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the method used.

Rest a fine mesh strainer over a bowl and strain out the buttermilk. Reserve for another recipe. Place the butter in a bowl and knead with your hand to squeeze out any more buttermilk. It may seem odd to knead butter, but it will hold together and kneads easily.

You can use the butter immediately or refrigerate it for later. If storing for later, you'll want to "wash" the butter. This helps remove even more buttermilk from the butter so it doesn't sour. Add 1/2 c. of ice water to the butter in the bowl. Continue kneading the butter in the ice water. Pour off the milky liquid. Repeat the ice water wash and kneading process until the liquid remains clear. Add salt to taste. This is also a good point to add other flavorings, if desired, such as honey and cinnamon for toast and pancakes, or herbs and garlic for bread or meat.
Trish, we are still holding you and Danny up in prayer, so keep us posted as to what is going on , Love you both.

The doctor called with the biopsy report. It is the same cancer that was in his chest. Sarcoma. We go sometime Thursday to start chemo and for now they say he will have 2 rounds of chemo then surgery to remove his r. Lower lobe.

Trish, I am continually praying for you and Danny.  I loved what you wrote...made me cry.

Mom~  Thanks

Love you all
Trish, only God knows the plans he has for you and Danny, But I pray Growing old togather is one of them.

Plans

When we were young we made plans. We wanted kids-2,3,5-only God knew- It was in his hands.
We picked out names before they were needed. We knew one day there would be an Emily Renee,
the names Tanner and Jacob came with lots of weeding.
We wanted a house, a place of our own, with a yard for flowers, trees, and of course the "kid zone".
A house is not all we got as our plans became real but a home with God, laughter and children with zeal.
As we raised our family some plans became forgotten and dreams were put on back burners. T-ball, football and
school trips were now a priority-and believe it or not time for kids to get their learners.
Emily, now a senior in college, becoming a physician is her dream.
Tanner a freshman, physical therapy is his theme.
Jacob in Middle School, he has no plans just dreams, which is how it should be when you are a pre-teen.
To bag a big buck or hunt the black bear, ride a motorcycle, have a hundred pets, or to take a dangerous dare.
My plans for my children are no more, but I do dream of them being happy in love with someone they adore.
Our plans for our future have been put on hold. Like so many others, Cancer has become the uninvited guest, like the flu or a cold. But deal with it we must, God has placed this in our path, for God has plans of his own. We do not know what they are, but what we have always known is God loves his children, and that we are certain, no matter if we are near or far.
I have quit planning, God is in control, but dream I still can.
There is only one dream I hold dear to my heart and that is to grow old with Danny, that was our dream from the start. So many plans have come and gone, some fulfilled and some left alone. But dreams are forever and this one thing I know, Growing old and gray with someone you love is one of Gods greatest gifts sent from above.
Happy Birthday, Janet!

A man and his ever nagging wife were on holiday in Jerusalem, when the wife suddenly died.
The funeral company told the man that it would cost 45000 to ship her home or $500 to bury her in Jerusalem.
The husband said, "Ship her home."
Shocked, the undertaker asked, "But sir, why don't you bury her in the Holy Land and save the money?
"The husband replied, "A long time ago, a man was buried here and 3 days later, he rose from the dead ... I cant take the chance!

After the liver biopsy the dr told us that the CT scan done yesterday showed a new nodule on his right lung SO they did a biopsy of that while we were there. We won't know the results of that until monday so guys keep praying. He is working miracles everyday. Danny is in quite a bit of pain from both biopsies and the positions he had to maintain during. He had a low grade fever today they think from his chest wound so they wouldn't do the central line due to risk of infection. He is hoping to bring him back on Tuesday for the line and chemo. Anyhow that's the plan as of now. Thanks for the prayers,
Love to all

Happy Birthday, Greg!

Happy Birthday, Blain!
I e-mailed people last week with the request that they send me recipes. I am working on a family project and I would like to have EVERYONE represented. That means all you fellows, teenagers and children can send me your recipes. Even if you can't cook, you have favorite recipes that you like to eat. Have your parents submit the recipes for you. I do not want any of you to be left out! They do not have to be "your" recipes. They can come from anywhere.
It was 17 years ago that I had cervical cancer and 10 years ago that I had breast cancer.

Kenneth W. Hagin (Jr.) was at our church a couple of weeks ago for a crusade, and he was speaking on his father's (Kenneth E. Hagin) favorite scriptures (Mark 11:23-24): "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them."

He told about living in Port Arthur, TX, when he was young. He remembers that a relative called his Mom and Dad to tell them about their baby being born in the hospital in Houston. He said that doctors didn't expect the baby to live and they wouldn't permit the parents to see the baby because its face was so deformed. He said that when his father got the word, he told them via telephone: "That baby will be fine!" He said that his parents then got dressed, went to the hospital in Houston and when they got there, the doctors told them they could see the baby and that it was fine! The doctors said they stood by while the baby's head "exploded" and its facial features became normal. And he is still alive today.

His father said that there are times when you just need to believe and speak. Jr. said that you need to Keep Saying It Until You See It and Do Not Get Separated From the Statement That You Make.

I personally do not believe that God wants any of his children to be sick, and Jesus took stripes on his back and purchased our healing just as he purchased our salvation.

As I was praying this morning, God told me: Do not listen to the negative. Say only what I say because with your words you create your world just as I created My world with My words.

Julie, I bet you can weigh in with your testimony! And others of you out there also.

Praise The Lord

Just want to tell you Danny, that you are on our Prayer Chain and we are constantly praying for you and believing God for another Miracle.  I said another one because, as you may remember, it was 10 years ago, this month, that Blain got his second diagnosis of Melanoma.  You could tell when the Drs. gave it to him that they weren't very optimistic, Even telling him that, at the most, they would give him 10 years to live.  Well, Today is his 50th birthday and it is pretty much, exactly 10 years later and well.... you know the rest of the story.  I know that it is because the Great Physician showed up!!!

update on Danny

Evening all,
Just to update you all on Danny.  He went to UVA on Wednesday.  They did an ultrasound of his abdomen and there is a spot on his liver that apparently wasn't there in May when they scanned him.  The area is 2.1 cm and they would like to do an MRI but with his heart valve they can't so he will be going for a liver biopsy on Thursday.  He will also get a central line that day for his chemo.  The plan is to start chemo on the 22nd.  He will be admitted that day and his oncologist said he would be there til Monday or Tuesday.   He will start chemo no matter what the biopsy shows at this time.
Please continue to pray for him as he undergoes these tests and starts chemo.  We know this is all in Gods hands.  Like Danny often says, he might be in the drivers seat but he doesn't always do the drivingSmile
Love to all,

Trish
