EVERYBODY needs a Lonnie at their house!!

What time did Daddy wake up? Maybe if he can get those pain pills around the clock he will eventually get used to them and not want to sleep ALL the time. But at least it is helping the pain and he was able to sleep.

I fixed Biscuits and Gravy, fried apples, eggs and bacon for breakfast yesterday while Rita went with Blain to the doctor and you would not believe what all Mommy ate. 2 fried eggs, apples, lots and lots of burnt bacon ( I like mine really crispy so I burnt it and she said she liked hers like that too, she couldn't get enough) and a biscuit with honey and one with sandwich spread. After all that she was still snooping around the table at the SWEETS!
Daddy on the other hand only ate a little bit of apples and a piece of a biscuit. But they did share an Ensure after all that.
Rita and I and the boys worked on moving some mattresses around in the basement so that we have the best ones in the new part where the furnance isn't so loud. Tanner and Jacob had never seen a SET of springs! They really like the bed with those on it. Nice and bouncy AND noisy!!

I gave Mommy and Daddy both manicures and pedicures yesterday with the manicure set Teresa got Mom for Christmas...really nice.

No Water again.

Lonnie just fixed the water. He said the Pressure Switch had blown apart. I asked him if it was something he could show me how to fix in case it happened again. His reply "YOU couldn't fix it"! Guess I'll just call HIM.

Daddy has been asleep since Trish left today at 1:00. He was due for a pain pill at 2:30 but is still asleep. It's now 5. Something has happened to the water. Went to turn it on and Nothing!!! The spring is full and the breaker hasn't been kicked, so I did what anybody with any sense would do...I called Lonnie! He's on his way. Let you know what happened later.

Trish and I started to come home and tell Mommy she was pregnant (You know how she likes that verse...with God, all things are possible...but we didn't know if her heart could take it when we had to tell her...Not really!! Daddy is hurting alot today. I told him that he needs to take the pain meds BEFORE he starts hurting so bad and not to wait until he hurts. He had taken one sometime in the early morning hours and it was 1:30 when I asked him when he took his last one. Soo.. I will make sure he takes them q 4 hrs. His Dr. okayed that today rather than his scheduled q 6 hrs. For anyone coming to stay with them, I am going to put a checklist on the inside of the cabinet on the wall, going into the old living room. It will include giving them their meds or making sure they have taken them. It will also include rubbing lotion on Daddy's feet, back, etc. Just little reminders.

Hey All,
Thought I was going to be able to connect to the Internet via US Cellular Modem and be online at Mommy's, but don't think that is going to happen. I could get online at Mommy's but not at home so I guess I will just keep on paying HughesNet for now. Can't pay for both places! In about a year, they should have the AT&T tower up and running on Backus, and maybe I can go wireless then. It sure would have been handy. I will be going to Mommy's in the morning and staying until Thurs. night when Steve comes up. Mommy starts looking for him about Tuesday. Marcia and Lonnie stayed Sat. and Sat. night. Marcia helped Mommy sew a Blanket and I understand that Mommy and Steve cut out all the pieces!

I tried to have the most positive outlook for the weekend but obviously it is snowing!! Therefore, the baby shower has been cancelled today. Mark said the only kind of shower I'm getting today will be a snow shower lol. I am not amused :( We are going to reschedule it for next Saturday, February 6th, at 1 pm. If any of you would like to come and enjoy in the food and games we would love to have you. I wish everyone a fun filled day today and this weekend and most of all be safe and careful.

Hey everyone...zac got a new phone and it has internet so I thought I'd send you a post from the middle of i79. This thing is pretty nifty. Anybody got any of the snow they're calling for? So far its still dry as a bone here.

We visited with Mom and Dad this evening. Helen had made Daddy a Cherry Cheesecake and we took it up. Mommy met me at the door and practically grabbed it out of my hand. "What da ya got there" There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with her appetite. And Addy and I have discovered why Daddy is losing weight! I fixed them both a piece of pie and Mom ate hers quickly! Dad was working on his and Tanner came to get a key to the building, he and Danny were fixing a lid for the trash bin. While Daddy was getting his key off of his key ring, he set his pie down. Mommy just reached over and picked it up and proceeded to eat it! LOL Addy had just asked mommy if she would like another piece and she told her no she was watching her figure!! ;) Daddy just sat there and laughed aT Mommy while she was eating HIS pie. She laughed and said "what? It was just sittin' there!" Of course we had to get Daddy some more pie! They were enjoying Addys weekly huge bag of popcorn!
Daddy has already started fretting about the yard work. I was talking about how the days were getting a little longer and time change was right around the corner. He said the flowers would soon be up and the grass would soon need mowing. I told him this year he could be boss and everyone else could mow. He said bossin' wouldn't do him no good. I told him when anyone came they could just grab a weedeater, a lawn mower, or trimmers. There would be a job for everybody! He didn't object, which surprised me. But he is getting anxious to get out and "stir" around as he says.
Mommy did well yesterday, didn't have any more bleeding until last night when we were getting her ready for bed, but it wasn't a lot.
Lonnie and Marsha are staying Saturday and Saturday night with the folks and Me, Danny and the boys will go up Sunday.
By the way, not sure if anyone blogged about the trash. Rita saw what was getting in the trash and scattering it everywhere!! WILD TURKEYS!!

evening all,

Just a note to let you all know whats going on with Mommy.  This morning when she got to get her shower Rita noticed she had been bleeding...quite a bit...vaginally.  Just so happened that the home health nurse was there also and arranged for Mommy to go to the OBGYN doc so Rita and I took her for that. 

He did an endometrial biopsy and said it would take a week to get the final report.  But I could tell by the way he talked that he thinks it is cancer.  We won't know for sure what our options are until we know for sure what we are dealing with.  She isn't in any pain...we took her out for Italian supper and we all had spaghetti and salad.  She ate and ate and ate then she started laughing so hard so almost choked.  She said I just can't eat anymore of that.  So we took the leftovers to Daddy and got him a piece of coconut pie to go.  Rita said he ate the pie but the spaghetti was tooooo spicey.

Carol and company all made it home safe after a rough start.  Cherie got hung up on Helmick Hill and Rita had to go to the rescue but everything worked out okay.  She will have to blog the details.  I think they were all scared to death by the time she got there.  Anyway, I am hitting the hay.

I talked to Vonda tonight and she sounds terrible.  Has the stomach flu, I think it is raging through their house.  So remember to say a little prayer for them tonight before you all hit the hay, as well as one for mom and dad.

Morning all,
Mom and Dad have enjoyed a visit from Aunt Carol, Aunt Goldie, and Cherie since Saturday. They are heading home today. We got about 2 inches of new snow last night but the roads are in good shape. Bobbie and Elliot spent the weekend and Timmy and cindy came up on Sunday. Cherie wanted to hear some music so we sang and timmy and elliot played, Cindy video taped! Mommy sang "Wading through Deep Waters" and all she could remember was the chorus so we sang it over and over. Daddy said if we stuck with it we might learn to "hang" and laughed real big.
He isn't eating at all, sleeping a lot. Rita just called and the nurse is on her way out. Will give an update later if I learn anything new!

I went to the Dollar Tree this morning and got door alarms. (Thanks to Marsha) They were a dollar a piece! and according to Marsha they squeal really loud when they go off and you can turn them off during the day! Thanks Marsha.

Just in case anyone wants my pork BBQ recipe...

1. Put frozen pork roast in Crockpot.
2. Pour two bottles of BBQ sauce on top.
3. Turn on high for 8 hours or so.
Take it out whenever you feel like it!

Here are the recipes that Julie cooked at Mom and Dads last weekend!!

> Creme of Cocnut Cake

> 1 box white or yellow cake mix (I use Betty Crocker)
> 1 (15 oz.) can cream of coconut (at Publics Grocery this was in the Ethnic

> 1 (14 oz.) can Eagle Brand condensed milk
> 1 (16 oz) Cool Whip (at home I use the lite, but NOT fat free)

I just wanted to let everybody know how my evening was with Grandma and Grandpa. I went up yesterday after school and they were both asleep when I got there. I took them a fresh bag of popcorn from the Macarthur Walmart. Grandma practically had her hand in the bag before I could even let go of it! I got them both a bowl and they ate it pretty good. I asked Grandma if she wanted some dumplins and she said it sounded too good to pass up. Papaw said he'd eat some. Papaw ate most of his and some pudding later. I think Grandma's appetite was a little healthier than she thought. She ate a whole plate full of dumplins and finished what was left on Papaw's plate too, but insisted that was all she wanted! Then we went to the living room and Papaw tinkered around on his desk while me and Grandma watched some guy on the outdoor channel wrestle turkeys. She got pretty tickled at that.
Grandma showed me the little album of Clara, and while she was flipping through it I asked her what she thought of Amy having another one. She looked surprised and said "Is she pregnant? I didn't know that! Well isn't that just a miracle! Maybe it'll be a boy this time. I hope it's a boy..." I think she is more excited everytime she hears about it! And she just kept talking about how happy Colin looked to be an uncle.
They were both in very good spirits. Papaw grabbed her hand and they shuffled to bed together around 8:00. I don't think Papaw was tired but he knew Grandma was waiting on him.

Regarding the doors at Mommy and Daddy's - Perhaps we should have the current locks removed and put ones on the doors that do not lock when you go outside (the old-fashioned ones that you have to physically lock).

Good Morning,
Wanted to let you all know that Mommy and Daddy are now getting home health assistance. The nurse came yesterday and checked them both out. Drew blood on Daddy and will come weekly for now. If they get sick or need checked out before her scheduled visit all we have to do is call. This will cut down on their dr. visits especially while the weather is bad. Her name is Jenny and Mommy and Daddy just fell in love with her. Of course Mommy said to call her grandma and I had to take her picture for him. But it was on Ritas camera so I don't have it to post.
Her numbers are posted on the fridge for anyone going up.
The other thing is Mommy got up in the middle of the night Daddy got up to find her and couldn't. He finally found her outside. Rita was sleeping in the basement and heard the commotion and went upstairs. Of course the doors open and then if closed lock behind her. I called home health and a medical supply company to see about getting door alarms and they said to look on the internet. Has anyone ever seen or used any? I found one set at the Alzheimers store on the internet. Let me know if anyone has any other ideas. I thought about putting bolt locks on the doors up high but I think she would try and get them open possibly trying to stand on something. We would only need them on the 3 door at the back I think. This isn't the first time this has happened. But it seems to be happening more frequently. I will post the link for the alarms that I found and let me know what you guys think.

Daddys appetite seems to be improving a little. He is taking the Zofran that Mommy was taking when she fell for the nausea and Rita thinks it is helping. I made macaroni and cheese and took up to them today and they both ate it good. Even said it tasted good! The only problem now is when Rita went to pick up his prescription they said it wasn't covered on his insurance and it would be 400+ dollars. So I guess we will have to work on that.
Addy came up after school and Janet was bringing the kids up to spend the night because we are expecting an ice storm.

Don't forget to email and/or call Mom and Dad on a regular basis.
For the ones that live out of state it would be great if I could put you down on a certain day to call and talk to them.
Amy is doing mondays, David is doing Saturdays. And if you call, try and make it before 6pm as they are usually settled down and getting ready for bed. But you can usually call as early as you want!! Mommy has to get up and fry that egg for breakfast.

Sounds like we are all going the way of our Momma! But you know she always had the best memory for where she had put things up until Alzheimer's appeared. But we love her and will take her anyway we can get her. Right girls! Did anyone ask her where she may have put the coolwhip?

Julie gave us a grocery list before she came in and Rita bought the groceries. She made a coconut cake and cool whip was on the recipe. When she went to put the cool whip on the cake she said she couldn't find it. So EVERYONE went on the hunt for the cool whip cause Rita KNEW she bought it. We all looked everywhere. upstairs downstairs cabinets and no one could find it. So we ate the cake without it and it was delicious anyway. The frozen corn was in the bottom of the bag with the cool whip. Rita opened the freezer monday morning and it was right there big as life! Sitting at the bottom of the freezer!!

What is the story behind the cool whip and frozen corn???

You would never believe what Rita found when she went to Mommys on Monday morning?!  She opened the big freezer and there was the container of coolwhip AND frozen corn!  So I finished off the rest of the cake WITH coolwhip!

Everyone please check your tylenol, mortin, rolaids and such. There is a huge recall out by Tylenol...it has made people sick because of mold and mildew. We actually had several bottles that we had used. You can go to the Tylenol homepage and type in the lot number to determine if yours is recalled. Might be worth your time. We should probably check at grandma's too, or are they on stronger stuff than that???? Mom-Check the bottle that I gave you!

At this time I will share a conversation exchanged between Papa and myself at the dinner table this evening.

Papaw: "Addy hun ain't you gonna eat?"
Addy: "No Papa I'm ok. I already ate."
Papaw: "Whatsa matter? You afraid you gonna get fat?"
Addy: "You mean fatter?"
Mom: "Addy you want him to measure your waistline?"
Addy: "No I'm not pregnant. I don't have an excuse."
Papaw: "No yours is just fat."

Addy: "What Papa?"
Papaw: (smiling) Yours is just fat!"

Teresa suggested getting a tape measure, and Papa was happy to oblige the location of several.

Papaw: "I'd say about 38. 40."

I got the tape measure. Timmy measured my waist line.

Timmy: (surprised) It's 39!

Monica you won't believe what grandpa did tonight! I will definately let Addy tell it though!

Yeah, Grandpa said he needed 50 inches of toilet paper! When we did measure my tummy it was 50 1/2 inches. He's still got a good eye him :)

You are so right! When Momma gets to laughing she does sound just like her old self. Vonda, when we were at Mom's and the ladies did a shower for Monica we went around the room and guessed how much Marleigh would weigh. Colin said she would weigh 8 lbs and 3 inches! I ask him if he was sure, he said yes and repeated it! He has been listening to his Gramma, "All things are possible with God." Daddy looked at her and guessed almost exactly how big around the baby she was. We were using toilet tissue to guess. But it wouldn't do but for Dad to go get a tape measure! He almost nailed it by sight! Mom said that day that she, with all of her babies, had had one baby shower in her life. She couldn't remember which child. I hope our kids realize just how blessed they are!

Hey everyone. I know that mom doesn't have internet so I just thought I would give you an update on today. Apparently the kids had a good time with grandma and grandpa. I am glad they get to spend time with them. Mom was mopping the floors when I got there and abouu 5 seconds later, Olivia busted her can on the wet floor. I don't think Trish was feeling well today. Steve was on his way in...with some glue or something. David and Julie broke down in Statesville and are apparently having their vehicle fixed. They plan to arrive tonight around midnight. Grandma and grandpa were sitting on the couch holding hands, which is where they spend most of their time these days! Love to all!

Emily~Nice couch! Everything looks so pretty...nothing like that room you used to live in!

Monica~ I would ask how you are feeling, but since you are ready to pop, I'm more concerned about Mark!

One more thing...Olivia and Kaiden are getting another new cousin as well. Matthew's sister is due in September!

52 degrees and loving every minute of it!!!!!!! Today has been beautiful :) I had another dr's appt this morning and things are going well. He said that the head was down and she was in the right position. He's guessing that right now she weighs about 5 lbs. I have 7 weeks and 1 day to go till the due date. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying some warmer weather. Talk to you later :p

Emily, your place is so neat! Are you two always that "everything in it's place." Is this the professional Emily? Corey is experimenting with his camera now, taking some pretty pictures.
I so hope Momma is not too sore when she gets up in the morning! God surely has been with her in her falls. Her little bones have been taking a beating tho'.

Rita just called and said Mommy fell in the kitchen. She found her on her back. Don't know if she was dizzy, feet tangled or blood pressure dropped. But of course she said she didn't hurt anywhere, so......

Zac and I rearranged our living room last week while we were on break. He also put up a shelf that Daddy made (last picture). I think it looks really good!

We all had a good day I think. Daddy is eating soooo much better. He had been taking some medicine for his arthritis and it "supposedly" wasn't supposed to hurt his stomach, but anyway I told him to stop it last sunday just in case and I think that has helped, not to mention the prayer that Elliott led before everyone left. He has been going out and plowing the hill himself and I think that has even helped his spirits. Steve, when I went up today, I offered to clean off the table you guys moved into the living room and asked him if he wanted it moved back. He was quick to respond that "No, Steve was coming back on Friday and you all were gonna work some more" He got out the "nut box" today and started cracking. He wants me to make him some candy! They did eat a good dinner AND supper. They both ate cheese burgers and homemake french fries, fried onion rings, pickled beans! After that Mommy got on one couch, I got on the other and Daddy got in the chair. Danny and the boys went to Wal Mart and we slept for about 2 hours. Fixed chicken dumplins for supper and we all ate good! Daddy had his guns out today showing them to tanner and Jacob, they really enjoyed that. He was telling them who gave them to him and different things about them. I think he is really enjoying the company. I think he probably talked poor Cindy to death. Mommie said she got sleepy and just told them they could stay up but she was going to bed. LOL
Well gonna call it a night.

I went up today with Mommy and Daddy, Zac and the boys. Grandpa was working on the mandolin when we got there. We made hamburgers and homemade french fries. Zac has been frying onions and eating those in place of french fries (he's on Atkins) so we made some and Grandma really liked them. They both ate pretty well I think. Oh, and mommy told me that Steve didn't really need me on Fridays, so I won't be up there then.

We start back to school tomorrow...Tanner and Jacob got just as much break as we did! As did Addy and Janet I guess.

Steve- always nice to have an update. Matthew laughed outloud about Grandpa cutting his hair. Danny- Nice of you to join us! I will take the kids up in the morning around 8- delay again- and they will spend the day with grandma and grandpa "twedway". They are all looking forward to it, I think! Well Hello Danny! Good to see you:) And glad you filled us in about the weekend, Steve. I am getting ready to go up and spend the week. Cindy stayed Saturday and Saturday night. Cindy if you are on here, fill us in on your time there. Olivia and Kaiden will be visiting some this week so I know Mommy and Daddy will enjoy them. Not to mention, Olivia and Kaiden love it too. Kaiden sticks to Mommy like glue. One day when he was there, she said "It don't seem like no time that David Samuel was that little." They (all 4 of them) will be napping from about 12:30 til 2:30 so if you need anything, call or text my cell. That darn phone is so loud! Talk to ya'll Friday.

I had a good weekend at Mom and Dads. I got there late Thursday because I was driving in a mess of snow. I don't know if you all remember, but Trish and Dan got Dad a mandolin kit for Christmas. He said he wouldn't be able to put it together, so I told him I would help. Timmy and Cindy came over on Tuesday night and he helped me put the neck on the body. After I got to Daddy's', we worked on it till 10:00. Mommy fell asleep on the couch. The next morning after breakfast we started on it again. We worked on it most of the day except for taking a break for lunch and to plow the hill again!!! Mom ate good as usual and Dad had a good lunch. I fixed potato soup and cornbread. Dad got up sometime in the middle of the night to cut his hair. He said it was aggrevatin' him so he just got up and cut it off. He just laughed about that. I left the next morning after breakfast and plowing the hill again!!! Daddy was in good spirits all the time I was there. He even got one of his old mandolins out and said he was going to work on it this week while I was gone. I brought the new one back to do some finishing touches on it before we polyurethane it. Love you all, Steve.

Well here I am but only by force by my lovely wife! Probably won't contribute much, but I will be peeking in from time to time to keep up with the family! We are headed to grandma and grandpa's to spend the day there.

Well, we don't have as much snow as you all do , but its colder than you know what, down in the single #, But we are trying just to stay warm, just glad I don't live out west where its really bad.Hope everyone is good, Think I'll go to bed early , really tired . so everybody stay warm.

There is no way that I could live out in the NW. I am sooo ready for Spring. The way they give the local weather around here is, oh say, 6 - 8 inches but in the higher elevations, that number could be considerably higher. I just shoveled another foot of "considerably higher" off my back porch. I do that every day. I have to go out twice a day and clean off my Satellite Dish so I can get online. We are, however, supposed to, according to the Weather Channel, get a break by next Wednesday. The sun is supposed to come out and warm us up to 40 degrees. Right now though, I have a fire in my cookstove and it is toasty!!! David and Julie should have good weather to travel in by Thursday. How's the weather where ya'll are?

That works good if someone else does Fridays, then I can give mom a break on the week day evenings. My schedule is more flexible than yours and I am a little closer too.

Well Janet, maybe we could alternate or something? I don't have to be there every friday, it's just the only day I can do. Whatever works best with everybody.

So if Emily and Steve are going to be there on Fridays...I will do a different evening.

Sounds like ya'll had a pretty good day! I haven't seen Grandpa out in a while...good that he's getting up, out and about.

I spent the day with Mommy and Daddy. Daddy ate a real good breakfast...bacon, 2 fried eggs, 1/2 cinnamon roll and an ensure. Mommy had fried her 2 eggs at 5:00 this morning. After I gave her meds to her, I told her she had to go lay down for a while, to give them time to work. She did just that. I helped her get a shower today, washed her hair and she went back to the couch for nap #2. I did the laundry, changed their bed, swept and mopped the kitchen and the old living room. I fixed fried green tomatoes for lunch, with leftovers from the fridge. Daddy didn't eat much lunch, but he drank another ensure. At 5:00, I told them they had to eat something before taking their meds, so they each had a bowl of peaches. Mommy said she likes the Butter Pecan ENsure best. I asked her if she wanted Vanilla and she wrinkled up her face and said she didn't like that kind. Daddy plowed off the hill alittle more and took the 4-wheeler down to get the mail. We saw 2 deer out the kitchen window and when Daddy came back in from being outside, he said they had been all around the house and out in the driveway. They were both in good spirits and were on the couch waiting for Steve to arrive when I left at 6:30. They told me to call when I got home!! I ain't had to do that in awhile, or EVER!!! But I did. If you cook anything, either there, or bring it in, don't cook alot. They get tired of it before they can eat it and then when I have to throw it out, Daddy tells Trish that I waste alot of food!!! Just cook enough to do them. The fridge won't hold but so much. Also, don't forget to check the fridge for leftovers.

Yeah, but while I'm there I can help Grandma with her bath and help steve with whatever else needs done up there....I really can't do any other day of the week.

Emily, I noticed that you said you were going to Grandma and Grandpa's and stay every Friday night? Isn't that one of the nights that Steve is taking FMLA to stay?

I have unexpectedly taken on another project, and I have a favor to ask of you. I'm making a recipe scrapbook and I was wondering if you guys could email me old pictures of the family, even new ones, and especially pictures that even some might not want circulating (no make-up, bad hair day, and all that!)
Also, I was wondering if you could email me a favorite recipe of yours, something you make all the time, a quick fix recipe, etc. Any of that would be greatly appreciated!

Addys gift to grandma and grandpa

Trish~Just put me on there for the last Friday of the month and that will be the evening that I go and spend...cook, clean, whatever they need! I will also try to go other Friday evenings as well, but I can't commit to every Friday evening.

I think I am the only one that can change the picture since I am the one that created the blog. As soon as I get a copy I will change it.

I am still trying to get the other video to upload. Not sure but it might be too big. Still working on it. And as for the calendar, I haven't got it done yet. Make sure you "sign in" before you try to post something on it.

It was a nice Christmas at Mommy and Daddy's, don't you think? I think everyone enjoyed themselves. I sure hope so. I loved the Christmas story read from Daddy's Bible and Bobbie did such a good job. For those of you who don't know, Timmy and Cindy rededicated their lives to God a week ago and Cindy couldn't talk without the joy spilling down her face. That was a wonderful Christmas present!! I especially enjoyed the Christmas singing. I think we have some hidden talent in the family:) If you weren't there, we missed you!! Would someone (Steve) change our family picture on the Blog and email me the new one. Steve and Teresa bought Mommy and Daddy a new picture frame that has the words Family and something about the generations on it. Steve put the pic we took, in the frame and Teresa hung it in the kitchen on the wall right in front of where Mommy sits so they can see it everyday!! It really is pretty. Be sure to check it out when you are up there. We put the WV rug down right where you come into the old part of the house and it really looks pretty. I think Lonnie and Marcia got them that. I put alot of the Peanuts and candy in the freezer, so please don't buy anymore. Just go get some out of the big freezer if you see they are low and please, help yourself to it when you are there. I told them that they had enough to last them until next Christmas and got a chuckle out of them both. Ya'll stay warm and count your blessings before you turn in tonight.

Trish, I tried to post events on the google calendar, but wasn't sure how to get it to post. I noticed that you hadn't put mine on there. If I need to do that, Let me know. Did we give the calendar to grandma & grandpa for Christmas or do they know about it?
