Rta, You hit the nail on the head.  Just think of all of the out of state power workers that have been called here too.  Right at Christmas time.  I can't begin to imagine how they even get to some of the downed lines to fix them with all of the snow on!  I know when I say my prayers they are right at the top of the list.
You said you went to Mommys yesterday morning.  I called her at least twice during the time you were there because I was worried about them.  They still haven't been plowed out.  Never once did she say that you guys were there.

Morning All~ God Bless the DOT!! They scraped us out last night (one way) and we went to Mommy's about 8:00 this morning. I cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms and made them a huge skillet of biscuits and cornbread, and I opened them a jar of Ruth's chili for dinner. We took them a Sausage and Egg biscuit from the Dawson store, fresh out of the oven. Blain shoveled them a path to the tater house and the bird feeder and cut some wood for the cookstove, Took out the trash and the ashes. Shawn had cleaned off the hill for Daddy and it was in better shape than the road down the holler, by far. It is a mess!! We did, however see the power truck assessing our situation on the mountain, so I'm confident that it won't be long. We filled up the diesel and gas cans, though, just in case. I have heard so many people bashing the DOT and AEP. It makes me sick. You know, these people are working overtime, out in the cold and snow, doing without sleep, away from their families and such...and while most people are callin' in to work, these guys are getting called out. We all need to give them a break. I got to get my fire going again. Talk to you folks later. Oh, and your Christmas card is in the mail, but I just mailed them Friday, so they are probably still at Meadow Bridge PO :)
Hey everyone! My internet is finally back to high speed. I enjoyed everyone's pics and disaster stories. I sure don't miss that mountain, but I do miss the three-day games of yahtzee and rummie. I am home from school today and counting on tomorrow too. I guess we'll have Christmas parties after New Year's. Anyway, the most that we measured was 22 inches. Matthew brought the tractor out last night and cleared the driveway. We enjoyed just being home and not having to go anywhere. The kids went out in the snow for about fifteen minutes. Matthew told me not to take my eyes off of Kaiden or I would lose him:) Have a good day and Merry Christmas!

LOL Addy you are so funny!  We must have the same yard stick!  Bobbie Shawn went up and plowed Ma and Pa out today!

Well, I don't guess we'll be eating on the back porch furniture for at least a few days. I measured the snow on the table and the yard stick said "Crap Load." And I can't be sure, but I think my Sunfire and Kia Soul are those two lumps in the driveway. In the past two days the only traffic we've seen was a little Toyota that got to the front of our house, put it in reverse, and that was the end of it. Hope to see you guys for New Year's but we're supposed to get another storm of rain and sleet Friday. When we were trying to dig out the truck Paul looked at me and said, "The next time you hope for a snow day you can kiss my hind end!" Stay warm!
Mornin' All
Got a fire in the cookstove and have already had Breakfast. Gettin' ready to go out and burn some calories with the snow shovel. Looks like we've got the most of it. The paper says we will have sun and 35 degrees by Tuesday. I hope they plow my road so I can get to the mall. LOL Otherwise, Janet and Addy are going to come up short come Christmas. All I want for Christmas is to get to be with my babies!!! Blain's mom is having Christmas today but I guess we won't be there. :( I tried to blog some pics but I'm obviously not having any luck. I might try to send them to Trish and let her do it. We're going to turn the generator off for the day so I won't have power for my computer (Battery is shot) so I'll check in this evening when we fire it back up.
Rita that would be a great Christmas present to get....Your POWER on!  LOL   We have been lucky, our power is still on.  Monica  I expected to see the Flat grands sledding or riding a dog sleigh!  LOL  Love their little sweaters!
We have around 30 inches, DAnny spent all day trying to plow just the driveway.  There is just no where for the snow to go.  We are expected to get another 8 inches tonight!  YIPEE.  kids are already counting on monday and tuesday off from school.

I don't even know but I measured 24 inches at 1:00 and it's been snowing ever since. Blain walked out to the well house around dark and he said it was up to his uh...crotch...so that should be about 29 inches according to his inseam!! Oh, go ahead and laugh. It IS funny. I've been without power since about 3 this am. We have a generator, I just hope the fuel holds out. We can't run the whole house on it, so you have to unplug everything to run water...and Blain won't turn the hot water heater on...so we have to heat it. I'm heating it on my cookstove on the backporch. I think it is about 83 degrees in here. If he don't shut the draft on the stove downstairs, I'm going to open windows. Oh, I called the power co. to report my outage and they gave me an estimated time that my power would be restored. Dec 25, Midnight. Are they Crazy??? I haven't even finished Christmas shopping. Ya'll stay warm.

Well, I'm not sure how much we got but it snowed up past the bottom of Mark's truck door this morning. And the poor little pony is out to pasture by herself haha. It has started snowing again, a neighbor told Mark we may get up to 6 more inches tonight. Rita, how much snow did you get on top of the mountain?

Okay, Enough already!! I'd take more pics but I can't walk in this stuff. Don't forget to call around and check on your neighbors.

Addy, we love the video. Paul just needed to be out there with the laser that way the howling would add to the playful feeling lol!! However, it looks like the snow was almost over them so I don't know that they would have seen it :) The last two pics are just 3 1/2 hours after the snow started falling this evening. The first pic is the snow drift we had outside our front door when we got home from mom and dads tonight. We went out to walmart and Mark played in the snow a little with the truck, it was nice. I believe we will be having a white Christmas this year!!

Now THIS is what winter should look like!

Let it snow, Baby!
Well, we aren't going anywhere for a while! We have eight inches now...probably not going to get any better. Paul just said that the Fire Dept. is taking kids home in Raleigh County...at 9pm. I bet they are wishing they would have let out early! I just think that God has a real sense of humor to send a storm like this on a Friday evening instead of a Monday morning:) Love to all. Stay warm!

Hey Vonda,
I wanted to show you what I did with your decorations that I got at Grandma's on Thanksgiving. I put the reindeer and the blue and pink scarved snowmen in Marleigh's room and the snowmen with tealights on our kitchen table. I love them!!

Of course its my cell phone!  You know even when I am NOT connected, I AM connected! LOL  Our power came on at 1130 tonight!  Never was I soooooo happy!  The gas stove kept it warm though, it was 68 in the kitchen and living room.  We shut the door to the big living room and it was quite cozy!  But it sure was chilly out in the other part of the house!
My pups certainly didn't suffer any!  Me and Danny went to bed and took Bear and Gracie and Tux with us.  Then after the power came on I got up and there sat poor little Marley at the door.  She was sooooo cold, so I let her in and put her in the large crate!
We tried to pop popcorn on the gas stove.  I put some oil in the pan and two kernals of corn and waited and waited and waited....well you get the picture!  It never popped!
I definately have a renewed respect for the power company workers.  I would hate to be them in this weather.
