Bob the Builder & Dora the Explorer...

Reading together...this one did my heart good:)

I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I made it but I can't take full credit, it's Paul's recipe believe it or not!
Addy, Bobbie, Grandma, Grandpa and I enjoyed your lasagna Saturday night, and it was scrumptious. Grandpa said so, as well. You can make that anytime for them! Bobbie had brought a salad, and we made rolls and we ate like kings!

mom

Good Morning all,
Just a quick note to let you all know how Mom and Dad are doing.
Ruth came back in this week to stay.  Steve and Teresa came up on Thursday night and stayed Friday.  Bobbie came Friday night and is staying til Sunday.  Ruth is going home on Sunday also.
Mommy is still extremely sore and the pain medicine is making her nauseated so she gets an anti-nausea medicine at the same time she gets a pain pill and that seems to control it.  Her appetite isn't the greatest but she is eating, not a lot, but then again, thats why she weighs 120 pounds!
It is hard for her to get up and down from sitting and especially laying.  Still getting up and down SEVERAL times during the night to use the bathroom.  Daddy seems to be doing good though.  His appetitie has improved, heart rate and blood pressure seem to be doing well.  Hopefully, I plan on taking mommy back to the doctor this week for a recheck, just to make sure all is good.
They both enjoy the phone calls, emails, snail mail...whatever.  And most of all the prayers.
Their anniversary is Friday...69 years!  David, they got your card the other day when I was there.
Will keep you all posted.
Hope all is well with each of you!
Trish

I graduated with C. E. Stroud. At graduation, when he walked across the stage and they called his name (Clarence Edgar Stroud III), the class hee hawed because very few people knew his real name. I can understand why he shortened it. He was a nice guy in school and it is very sad.
Monica,

One of the ladies I work with had an interesting evening yesterday and I thought I would share it with you. Her 3 year old daughter cut her hair and she said that's one milestone in a girls' life she could have done without. And then I thought, I remember doing that. And I thought, Monica and Mark have so much to look forward to! Tell him there's so much more that will come before he needs a shotgun!

My "honey bees"

Li'l punkin'

According to the family he was shot in the chest and head at about 15 feet. Apparently they had a cabin on the land behind the slaughter house. It wasn't directly behind the slaughter house but way back on the land.
yeah, i read in the paper once in the head and once in the chest.
I know that he was found after 5:00 pm. He was shot twice, I think once was in the chest, and it was from 25-30 feet away.
I don't think that information was correct, although it is being investigated as a homicide.

It was CE Stroud. Meggan said they found him behind the slaughter house with 2 shots to the head.
Yeah, Randy worked with him, too. They called him C.E. but I can't remember his last name.
Congratulations! Nothing like a baby girl! I am so excited for you! I like Madea! She takes a good picture.

Addy, who was that? Randy's neighbor?
Hey Everybody,

I have a prayer request. My father-in-law's neighbor was found in the woods yesterday evening, he had been shot. As of last night, I'm not sure if he shot himself or if someone else shot him but they were pretty sure it was an accident either way. He went squirrel hunting and never came home. There are a lot of other circumstances surrounding this family. Keep them in your prayers.

Yeah!! Congratulations Mama and Papaw Slaughter on your granddaughter, and of course, Mommy and Daddy!!! I was with Mommy and Daddy when they got the email and I had Daddy read it to Mommy. They were both smiling from ear to ear!! Mommy did really good getting up to the bathroom today. Didn't eat much but she drinks the Ensure with no problem. She's awfully sore and if she moves a certain way, you can tell she is really in pain. She knows when her next pain pill is due and when she knew that I was going home and Trish was coming, she made sure that I told Trish when she could have her next pain pill!! Addy, Grandpa loved your banana pudding but Grandma didn't feel like eating any. She did, however, eat Zac and Emily's potato soup.
congrats!!
Congrats Mark and Monica, On your Baby Girl, That is just Awesome.
Yeah, Monica and Mark!!! IT'S A GIRL!!!! So, does she have a name yet????
YAY!!! CONGRATULATIONS! "Peanut" Madea Padgett...It's got a ring to it, don't ya think? hahahaha

And................it's a GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
still waiting...not so patiently!
So I really thought we'd know by now if "Peanut" was a boy or girl...I can't take the suspense!

Not sure if you all know yet, but Mommy fell yesterday evening at the house. Putting away marshmallows, just tripped on the floor. Fell on a metal stool and hurt her ribs. She went to church with rita and ruth and did fine there. shouted, prayed all the normal stuff. then when she came home, she was in so much pain she couldn't get out of the chair. we called the ambulanace and she went to the er. Nothing broken but definately bruised ribs. she is in a tremendous amount of pain and can't get up and down. she said out of 12 kids she has never had anything that hurt like this. we are taking turns staying because she can't get around. rita is there tonight and tomorrow, then I will stay tomorrow night and probably tuesday. If anyone is coming for a visit, let us know so we can let you take a turn:) We moved the green lift chair in the old living room where daddys chair is. its much more helpful for her to get up and down but still very painful. Lorie stayed with her today. The pain pills make her pretty loopy, so if you call and she doesn't have a clue...thats the reason.
Will keep you posted.
Love the pictures...keep them coming! Monica~I will be checking the e-mail and the blog every hour tomorrow. What time is your appointment? You had better not keep us in suspense! Love you and I hope that baby isn't shy tomorrow:)

There was a calf that got to sucking on Carrie's fingers and wouldn't stop. It sounded just like it was drinking from a bottle. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time. :)

The Llama's were my favorite. They also had chickens, pigs, sheep and some cattle in the far fields. There was a stuffed Angus head there too, it was huge!

Yesterday our church went to Thornspring Farms for a festival day. The Grands got to enjoy the livestock, a corn maze, a hay ride and Grandma milked some fake utters!! :)

Monica~How disappointing! I know I counted down the days until I could go. I would make the receptionist do it on Monday if she wasn't there:) LOL Let us know what you find out! I am so excited! Kaiden is hoping for a boy because Clara doesn't like him at all. She cries when he pinches her...I can't imagine why!

Friday, October 23, 2009

Well, we went this morning to have the ultra sound done and as soon as we walked into the dr.'s office, the ultra sound tech called in and said she wouldn't be there today :( I though I was going to start crying but I held it together because I still had to stay for my dr.'s appointment. We did get it rescheduled for Monday morning at 10:30 so pray that she will be there. Looks like everyone is having a good time with Amy, Ruth, and Lorie in. I enjoyed the pics that Trish sent. Looks like it was a little chilly though!!

Yeah we were in Charlotte. We were pretty high up, but the good thing is that we were just under the awning so when it started snowing and raining it wasn't hitting us, and we could still hear each other talk!
Was this the race in Charlotte this weekend? Mark said if you were sitting any higher the Grands would have nose bleed lol!!

Flat Grandma and Flat Grandpa had a pretty good time at the races. Grandma liked the pink car but Papa was more of an Old Spice (Tony Stewart) fan!

Monica, I have a better idea. Just post your recipe on the blog, I want it too. I think you gave it to me last year, but I can't find it of course!
Speaking of pumpkin, are we doing Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving day this year?
Monica~Can you send me the recipe for your Pumpkin cheesecake please? Just send it to my hotmail if you don't mind!
Hey everyone,
Daddy came home today! His heart seemed to be doing alright this morning. Rate was controlled and rhythm was good! And boy was he glad to come home.
I have never seen anything so funny in my life as those two today. If it wasn't tied down, bolted to the wall or alarmed when you picked it up, it came home with them. They were even eating their lunch and there was a chicken strip left, Mommy was looking for a baggie to put it in. They brought the salt packs, and pepper. Even the little baggies the salt and pepper come in. Boy Rita you will have your job cut out for you next time you go up.
I just talked to Daddy and the guy who dug his gen seng, brought it back this evening. I think he has been more worried about his seng than he was his heart.
Night all,

Mommy decided to stay here with me tonight instead of her house. We fixed popcorn and made some hot tea. David and Susan came over and we practiced music. She enjoyed that. I brought Montana over too since no one was there. She wasn't all that excited to see the old home place until she spotted about 10 buzzards in the bottom. There was a dead deer there and she went running down in the bottom and set the buzzards to flight. Marley acted like she wished she would've stayed home at mommys. We will probably head over to the hospital around 8 just incase anyone wants to talk to mommy just call my cellphone
night!

Janet, Daddy said they took him for a chest x-ray today, I guess he figures he's good to talk since his lungs checked out okay!

I have to tell this one before i go to bed. Daddys cardiologist is from Iran. A little short humped over man. He is only 15 years younger than Daddy. Always on the go and busy. So today when he came in the room Daddy of course had to get his picture, Dr Benham informed me this was his 2ND picture for the day. DAddy told him if he didn't slow down a little bit he was going to end up in the hospital like him.
After he left Daddy said "he sure does go go go alot" I told him that he has 5 wives "back home" in Iran. He has been in this country many years and he works and sends money back to support his "families" Daddy just about flipped! He said no wonder he has to go so much! He said Mom has filled my bill for almost 70 years, she is all I ever needed.
I told him I didn't think he actually got to see his families very often. Daddy asked Mommy how she would like to be part of that bunch. I told her it might not be too bad, if there was a good cook in the bunch, she could just lay around and let someone cook for her!
Went to see grandpa this evening. I was afraid his lungs were going to give out if he didn't take breath from talking. Guess he had a lot to say:) LOL He said that everyone was real nice and that the fod was good. Then, he told me ALL ABOUT the nice man who stole his "sang"- don't laugh if that isn't spelled right! Had a nice visit. I told him that grandma was sleeping better than ever since he wasn't hogging the bad. He thought that was funny. Apparently, she keeps his feet warm...how sweet!
I am here at the hospital with daddy and he is going to have to have another test to see if he has a clot in his heart. The medicine he is on isn't doing the trick. He will have to have more iv meds to convert him to normal sinus rhythm. That means probably another 3 days at least in here. Jacob is staying with mommy tonight and then we are coming over after he goes to school. He says he feels more like himself than he has in a long time. Talking and taking pictures. Mommy is enjoying eating out. We ate at our church dinner today and brought daddy some of it. We had pork roast. Mashed potatoes. Gravy green beans. Rolls. Dressing. All kinds of desserts. She ate like a pig but swore she could eat only a bite. Our pastors wife made a dessert of coconut orange slices and pecans. Daddy loved it. By the way if any of you find toasted marshmallows with the coconut, buy all you can get. Daddy loves them but apparently they told Bobbie it was a seasonal item. So stay on the lookout. That would be a wonderful Christmas present!!
For those that know daddy is talking to a guy on my cell phone that was digging his gin sang. Didn't know it was his. Anyway if u don't have very many minutes on your cell phone, don't ever let him use it. Lol
if he ever had one he would have to have unlimited for sure!!
After he has the TEE I will blog and let everyone know how he is. He will have to be sedated but it is conscious sedation. Your out of it and won't remember but easily aroused!

Have to share this with all of you! Kaiden got a new big bed (twin) and slept in it just fine last night. There is room under his new bed to park his tractors in "the barn". So he does really good at putting his toys away. During nap time today, I thoght he had just gone on to sleep and when I went to check on him, he was asleep in the "barn". I thought it was so cute! It might be a hard habit to break though! Note that he is sleeping with his tractors:)
