I took Mommy and Daddy to the doctor. Mommy got a good report. Nothing new going on with her. Just one of those things. Daddy had lab work and his kidneys aren't functioning as well as they should. He has lost 10 pounds since June. So she changed his medication all around and if the pain in his side doesn't get better in a couple weeks he is to go back for a CAT scan of his abdomen.
Tanner has caught a total of 3 coons on the back porch in a box trap. One a night.
Brent helped skin the coon they caught today, They use the hide to help train the coon hounds. He was thrilled to death. I told him we were going to turn him into a regular davey crocket and he said "who's that"
They are at Lonnies tonight sleeping in the cabin. Was planning on fishing but I am not sure how much of that they did. When I called around 8 they were making smores.
By the way, Happy Birthday Rita!

I dont know when the house was finished ,but we lived in it while they were building it, and doing the finishing work on it. Grandpa and Uncle Lin helped with the building, I think Uncle David was in the Navy at the time and I dont know where Uncle Lee was. but I remember were lived in it while they were digging the dirt out of the basement, to make it. and they had to clear the land before we could plant a garden, all the trees and brush.so I dont know how long that took.
I always thought Mommy and Daddy moved in 1948. Of course, that might have been when the house was finished and they actually moved in. I wonder how long it took them to build it? I am going to e-mail Daddy today and tell him to tell Rita or Trish.
Amy and Clara came down yesterday afternoon and stayed until dark. Belinda and Parker also came over and had dinner with us. Dan was out of town. Clara has grown so much in just a little over a week. Unbelievable! She is 12 pounds now. Parker, who is three weeks younger, is 12 and 1/2. Of course, he is a boy! They are both cooing and smiling and, of course, spitting up everywhere.
Amy is leaving Clara with us from Friday sometime in the day until Sunday afternoon. She brought us a DVD on CPR that she said we all had to watch. I have absolutely NO nursing instincts in me, so my CPR will probably have to be: "Lord, help me, Jesus!"

Yes, Congratulations Vonda! I'm so proud of you!
Speaking of the canning! How many jars would you venture to say Mom has canned over the years? They moved to the homeplace in '44 or '45. She probably started canning then. Or was it a few years before the trees were cut and stumps pulled to have a garden plot? Someone do the math and get back to us!

Not sure if everyone knows about Mommys episode on Saturday, but she seemed to have another mini-stroke. She recovered pretty quick, kind of like the other ones. We went by last night about 9p and she and Daddy had picked all the lettuce in the garden and she was talking about what she was going to do with it. Also the Kale, Tomatos and everything else in the garden. She is so excited to be canning something. Seems like no matter how much or what she forgets, she always remembers how to can.
Daddy called about 7am and said he caught a coon in the box trap Tanner set on the back porch. That makes 2 that he has caught so far. I guess Spot did more around the place than they knew. Apparently the coons are coming to the back porch and getting in the trash. Probably only a matter of time before the BEARS find it and join the coons.

This is Vonda with a couple of girls from her cabin at camp.
Vonda was saved the week she went to camp. When we came home we went to Mommy's and I told her to go into the kitchen and tell her. Of course Grandma was so excited she "got happy". Vonda said grandma got so excited she jumped so high her feet came off the floor!

OK, This is my grandchild we're naming here. They(?) have to live with this name for life you know! Cletis and Madea are OUT for obvious reasons! I don't know tho' Madea and call her Maddy, I could live with that! Surely there is a movie in the works "Madea gets SAVED! PRAISE THE LORD!"
"Having what you say"-that is scripture, I like that Monica! It works, doesn't it! Girls, maybe we should pray a set of triplets into the family!!!

Emily, it sounds like you had an eventful week!! I'm glad everyone had a good time and came home safe and sound. I like Marleigh for a girl and as I told Ruth, be careful what you say Rita because all I said was that I wished mom would have twins and aren't Corey and Adam wonderful :) Carrie and I were looking at baby name this evening on the internet and here's a few that were interesting: Macarena, Maimun, Maminnic, Marmaduke, Maximilian, Mclovin, Meliffany, Midnight, Mint(y), Moon, Moon-unit, Moss, Murgatroyd and for all you Treadway ladies...Madea!! Speaking of her, if you haven't seen the new "Madea goes to jail" it is fu-nny. I think it would be neat to stick with a name that starts with "M". For a boy we came across Micah and Mccai. I do like those. Mark said we should call it Peanut and then we would be M&M and Peanut. That's about all we accomplished today on that note. I don't want to take Cletus Oswald because I know Matthew and Janet totally want that name for their next one :P. Mom picked some green beans today and I helped her snap them, it was quite relaxing. Who woulda thunk?

Somewhere in Cowen a guy tried to kill his wife one night and he got a way (at first). They told us about twenty minutes later that they caught him. But they were thinking that they might have to do a manhunt and that they'd have to come into camp. And 2 girls had lice in one of the cabins, so they had to wash and dry the whole cabins stuff. Those girls slept in a different cabin after that (the one where all of the leaders stay). And I'm sure Vonda would have some really good stories! She really enjoyed the yuck, the cook parade and the monster crawdad that they found!
Monica~ I love that name. Is that for a boy or girl...or either! What if there's two...or three?? LOL And I'm dying to hear the Rest of the Story on the lice and attempted murder. Emily, it is hard to come back to the real world after being at camp. I'm glad Jacob and Vonda had a good time. I would love to hear Vonda's version of camp...in her own words. LOL
Hey everybody! Camp really has a way of making the counselors go home and feel lazy...I don't feel like doing any of this massive amount of cleaning there is to do after camp! But alas, it needs done.
Camp was FANTASTIC. It was such a great week despite the bears, attempted murderer and lice. The kids were so good. They all listened much better than any camp I've ever done...it was kind of weird! Jacob and Vonda had a really good time too. Vonda was 3 or 4 years younger than everybody in my cabin but they all kind of looked out for her like a little sister. 17 kids were saved in all, 3 were from my cabin. It was such a great week....it's hard to come back to real life after being at Cowen. =(
