Thursday evening I had the pleasure of being entertained by my red headed side kick, Emma. She often brings mischief, fun, love, youthfulness and loads of other stuff with her when she visits. On this particular evening she was in one of those thoughtful reflective moods. I had been in a reflective mood all day, shed a few tears, everything reminded me of Danny. Every song I heard, the candy pumpkins I bought were his favorite, even when I rocked the twins to sleep for a nap; it all reminded me of Danny and his love for life. I didn't share this with Emma though when she came home from school. We talked about going to the football game that night. On the way to my house she said, TT it makes me so happy to look up in the sky and know that DannyBoy is up there in Heaven. She said, I really miss him! Then she asked, Do balloons go all the way to heaven? Maybe we can put notes in a balloon and send them to DannyBoy! I will send him a note that says I miss him. You can send him a note that says you are sorry that he died and had to go on to Heaven alone...She then asked me if DannyBoy knew her granddad Clayton who died the week after Danny. I told her yes that her granddad was DannyBoys uncle. Emma said I bet they are just sitting around there together or just walking around having a good time. I assured her that DannyBoy and her granddad were no longer in pain or even old. They were indeed having a good time and were watching over us. It is true that kids say the darndest things! And their timing is perfect. Don't be surprised if you see balloons going up to Heaven in Dawson, it will just be me and Emma sending DannyBoy a note telling him how much we miss him and love him:)
